Matt Boyd 2019 Outlook

Is he in line for the win given that he was replaced in the bottom of the 8th?  (Score was tied 3-3 after 7; Tigers were winning 6-3 after the top of the 8th).

Thanks!  I badly need to start accruing some wins this year and would have hated to get shorted because the Tigers finally started scoring after he was done.

Sucks about the lack of K's, but impressed he managed to lower his 1.11whip when he was getting squeezed like that

What a great job by Boyd in a very tough environment, and being economical to get through 7 and give himself (and the team) a chance at a win.

I agree - only 87 pitches too, I was half expecting him to come out for the 8th.

Awesome start and win at Fenway.  That lineup at the start with Beni,Mookie,JD and Xander is a gauntlet.  Keep it going Boyd!

With today's postponement, looks like he gets boned again matchup-wise... goes from facing the ChiSox to at Philly.

He's facing the White Sox tomorrow.

Have they said that’s what happening or are you assuming they’re just going to skip whomever was slated to go today?

While all of us would rather have him face the White Sox, they’re actually scoring more runs per game than the Phillies are

That article, the team website, and Yahoo! have him going tomorrow.

I think it was like 36 or something. The QS was looking bleak. Had a bunch of nice 3 pitch K's mixed in after that first inning.

Matt Boyd is a top of the line strikeout pitcher in 2019.

In last nights game Boyd allowed 2 runs and had a man on 3rd with only 1 out. He struck out the next 2 batters which is a really good sign.

If anyone still had doubts about this guys stuff, he struck out the best player in the game swinging twice last night and kept him from reaching base. Another great outing. Guy is a legit stud.

Matt Boyd‘s impressive beginning to this season continued on Monday, with Boyd striking out six over six innings of one-run ball. One of his more effective tools this season has been the slider depicted above, which looks borderline unhittable much of the time.
