Kikuchi rocky to start.

I thought he looked good 2 errors by the ss and one should have been a double play

No, no he's not.

Inning should be over right now. Beckham should've had the first out. Then Kikuchi gave up a single. Then Abreu grounds into an easy double play, but Beckham botches it again.

Sure, poor defense. But he is also pretty eratic thus far.

At the time of your post, no. He should've gotten out of the inning with only a single given up if he had competent defense.

Eloy continues to press and appear to have zero approach at the plate. Guessing, and once he's behind any discipline disappears.

Kikuchi looks good.  Moncoda battled him but other than that he’s made good pitches under stress.

Hopfully as he gains more experience that will get better. I think a lot of players struggle with that at first

That right there is the difference between Moncada this year compared to others.  No one is ever saying that any other year about him.  His strikes are coming from fouled off balls and he's taking pitches.  He's a different player for sure.  Hope he doesn't change his approach during his first taste of turbulence during the season.

Reynaldo continues to look sharp. Never realized how much horizontal movement his changeup has.

I'm at the Sox game. I laughed that Kikuchi threw in Engel's hit rn, like it was his 1st MLB hit ever

He struck out looking 85 times last year, a record.  Taking pitches isn't new

One of those annoying outings where the defense tanked his pitch count in the 1st and now in the 2nd some bad luck hits like a bunt single and just now a soft single up the middle between the SS and 2B because the infield was in.

And 6 straight balls from Reynaldo to start the 3rd.

Edit: 7 straight.

The way his command just disappears is really frustrating. He starts flying open in his delivery.

Yep, Don Cooper came and calmed it down.  Hope he can escape with limited damage.

He did. It's gotta come down to a lapse in focus for him when his mechanics break down like that.
