4/23 - GAME DAY THREAD

The Red Sox players seem to be anxious to get this first game over with quickly. They are up there hacking away aggressively. Boyd just got through an inning on 4 pitches.

Technically it was 4, but they are certainly in attack mode.

Hah, yeah, I just corrected it. Hit the wrong button.

That DET lineup is embarrassing. There's like one legit hitter (Castellano) that I can say is above average. Vintage Sale would be mowing through them 10 pitch an inning.

Niko Goodrum seems like he's a legit hitter too, but it's definitely a putrid lineup. Stream anyone and everyone against them right now.

Line looks like Sale! Is he still around 91 mph tho?

Bit early to be calling that. It's not like Detroit has scored the fewest runs in the AL or anything..

Is he? Hard to argue with these results, but he's been throwing a lot of slow slop to get them.

I’ve seen plenty of 94s from Sale today

Sure , you could look at it that way.

I look at like this : There's maybe 5 pitchers in all of baseball I'm willing to start at Coors, and Corbin's not one of them.

I think you missed the joke :)

Yep, hes hitting 94 but hes working lower today than that. His avg velo last outing was 96 or so, average. Im betting the avg velo this outing will be closer to his first outing than his last one.

He's thrown 4 pitches at 94 something today. 3 in the first, 1 in the second.

Ugh Boyd so close to getting out of it.  At least wish the damage done would have been by Beni instead of Betts.

Despite the Ks, I'm still hesitant to say Sale is back.

75 pitches through 4 is not "sale is back" territory. But yeah, the 8ks today is nice...

Both Sale and Boyd seem to be kinda getting squeezed, but Boyd is getting away with it since the Red Sox are swinging at so many first pitches.

There's somewhat of a relational component there too.  Often high K pitchers have higher pitch counts (it tends to take more pitches to strike a guy out than it is go get him to hit a flyball to the outfield)

Those 10 pitch at bats are not vintage Sale.
