2019 May Closer Thread

For those that didn't see the DUMPSTER FIRE that was the Marlins in the 9th inning tonight for Romo. some by an inch infield single for Goodrum with 1 out. Castellanos rolls over to 3B routinely and Castro with one of the more lazy pathetic errors you'll ever see. Drops a ball that didn't even bounce or was thrown that wild. Couldn't reach down and catch it. error. Then a see & eye groundball single for Miguel Cabrera off the 3B glove. Then a routine pop to LF and the LF literally drops the ball in some of the most pathetic fashion you'll ever see. But somehow they reviewed it and acted like the ball somehow was cut and was being transferred. Very controversial. Gardenhire gets tossed after the review he hated it so much. But the Tigers tie the game and Romo charged with his first "blown save" of the year on 2 unearned runs. I mean really one of the more comical things to see in a blown save.

Gabe's in the wrong profession.  Should be working for Twinlab.

I'm thinking Neris is "unavailable" though and not being Kaplered.  He's pitched a lot lately

Kapler...don't managers get sacked for this type of decision?

He literally threw away a win for the Phils.

Kapler eats balls.  This dude is not equipped to be a major league manager.  Dude has the rare ability to turn a game of tic tac toe, into attempting to solve Rubick's cube, blindfolded.

He has a different 9th inning option for each ab.  New definition of 6 pack, Gabe Kapler version.

Juan Nicasio, Mariner bullpen graduate.  Picking up where he left off last year.  That may take the cake for bad decision of the year so far.  I bet the analytics showed Juan had good career numbers vs guys coming up.  The only issue is that was probably 3 years ago when Juan didn’t blow chunks.

why does servais refuse to let brennan close? or at least get some of the save opps. he seems like the best arm in that pen.

Because in order to generate a save opp you need to be winning a baseball game in the 9th inning.  Something the Mariners don’t, and won’t do very often the rest of the season.  Sorry a** franchise.

He’ll be coming off a pretty gruesome injury.  Lat strains can be tough depending on severity.  He’s probably only guy that if you hooked up to a talent meter that you’d likely see a pulse be generated.
