This is eerily similar to the s--- i took for “reaching” on Saquon last year ... you know, the blind homer selection of the guy who’s soft and “dances too much” according to people who didn’t actually watch him play extensively and factor in the putrid OL/0 passing game? It worked out pretty well for me last year, in several leagues.

Derrick Henry is a f’ing monster, fully capable of leading RBs in several categories. As mentioned above, if he went JuJu/Murray in that order no one would care.

I was probably going Kelce @ 6 if no DJ on the board, but Henry was in consideration. If you told me he was touching the ball 15-20 a game every week, that’s a top 5-10 RB, any format.

...he said for the 4th straight year...

The problem is, even if you're right this time, you still won't get any credit because you've been wrong the last 3 years in a row.  Doubling down repeatedly until you finally get it right doesn't make you look smart in fantasy football.  The casino, on the other hand, well that's why they have betting limits.  In this game, finally getting 1 call right after all this time, will sadly do nothing to help your credibility.

You can pretend last year was a good year for Henry, and maybe in real football it was, but in fantasy anyone who invest in him regretted it.  2 Bryce Brown weeks doesn't makeup for 8 weeks of WW fodder (7 points or less in full PPR) and 5 weeks of RB2 numbers, nor does it magically add up to RB1 (in my eyes).

Can he be an RB1?  Absolutely.  I like Henry, I overpaid to move up in Dynasty and draft him when he came out, yadda yadda yadda.

I think he has the talent, size, and situation to make it happen... But he hasn't made it happen and his continued failures speak louder to me than his flashes of greatness (which he has absolutely had).

So, I have no problem with you projecting him as an RB1, I think taking him where you did was a little silly, but understandable, I also agree about the names around him further justifying a higher investment, and lastly fully support going out and getting the guy you love.  But long story short, even if he finishes top 5 this year, you'll never get to say 'I told you so' to anyone on Derrick Henry because of how many times you've whiffed already.  The reality is that anyone just now looking at Henry has made a better choice than you for 3 years, on a player you should know better than anyone.

Henry is too bi-polar for my tastes.  Until proven otherwise, I won't be taking any leaps of faith.  I completely agree that investing before it happens is how you obtain value in fantasy football, so had you got him at a value I would concede that point. However you've paid nearly ceiling prices and there is nothing to gain for you.  Your best outcome is to break even, which is perfectly fine, breaking even early is great in my opinion, it's just not soap box worthy.

You must be fun at party's.

Yeah,I've been a fan of Henry for a while but I haven't called on him to be a first round pick.

I'm sorry that you thought I was looking for credibility on this website. I like posting my opinions and reading others. I don't care what you think of my opinions. We all have them, yours is just more long winded than most people.

I have believed in Henrys talent, he was grossly mis-managed during his time in Tennessee. That had nothing to do with me. I was pretty consistently calling him a flex play during his down years except for the time i thought Murray was hurt and Henry was going to take over.

If you are trying to discredit me, I don't care, you seem like the type of guy that would get off on something like that on a free fantasy message board but doesn't bother me because we all have our own style of playing. The good thing about it is we will play each other this year and we can see who knows what, I'll be looking forward to that.

The difference is one of them did it in 21 less NFL games.
The difference is that one of them also catches the ball, for an extra 500 yards on 64 catches, or 82 more .5ppr fantasy points.
The difference is one of them averages more than double the fantasy points per game of the other.

This is why you get trolled.  Not for liking DH, but for posting things like this.

The only difference is 1 was drafted by the Cowboys and 1 was drafted by the floundering Titans.

Put Henry on the Cowboys and he would have done just as good, if not better.

Wow, what a joke how bad Derrick outscored lockett from that point forward in the season.

Would have been a league winning move to get Henry before last December.

Got sniped so bad my last pick ... stings a bit.

Thoughts on Alshon? I felt like everybody on the board had some sort of question mark so opted for the #1 WR in what should be a very good offense. Expecting a boring 70/900/8 type stat line ... love the TD upside and he did put up 800+ yards in only 13 games last year coming off major surgery.

Not necessarily a guy I’m targeting this year, but I do think he’s a bit underrated this year. DJ/Fournette/Cooks were easy picks for me otherwise.

Nice pick. Both him and Robinson. I like Robinson a bit more, he looked great in the last few weeks of the season.

I was hoping to get one of the 2 in the 6th round. They'll easily outplay their ADP with several WR1 weeks.

It wasn't a serious offer, I kept Henry and started him every week after the bye over guys like Aaron jones.

I made the final but lost to @CyberneticGhostOfXMasPast :(

As of that date:

Derrick Henry had 3 total games barely over 50 yards rushing, and coming off 3 straight weeks of less than 35 yards. 0 100 yard games.

with 2 TDs in 8 games.

and I had Barkley/CMC at RB.

... and I won the league.

Thanks, thrilled to get both. Hopefully they’ll rotate their WR1/WR3 weeks accordingly

I think my RB pair will provide the “consistency” I want, while guys like Cooks / Alshon / AR *hopefully intersperse their big games

Obviously that is a tough tandem to beat regardless.

I follow the NFL season closely. I saw the Titans QB injuries , the OLine injuries. Matt lafleur was alternating entire series for Lewis and Henry, no real flow to the running game. As the OLine started to get healthy you could see Henry getting a little more consistent useage. In the Henry 2018 thread, in between the trolling you could see me and another poster discussing how Henrys average yard per carry was going up and then yes, Eddie George had a pep talk with him, told him they thought of trading him and that lot a fire for Henry but part of his problem was getting discouraged with his role on offense up to that point, OLine injuries, QB injuries. I mean henry got hit in the backfield more than any other RB in the league and gained more yards after contact than any RB in the league. No one ever really has an answer.for that stat other than Henry is a beast.

Congrats on winning last year but happy to know Henry was a starter for 1 of the finalist in the championship game.

He would’ve been a solid RB3, for sure

Oh, I probably misunderstood the context.

You had lockett, he had Henry. At the time he proposed that Lockett was doing awesome and Henry was struggling.

I understand now. It was cool that y'all both ended up in the finals still.

Yes, I had Lockett ... and the best RB tandem imaginable ... and Henry was useless at the time.

I think I had Alshon and Evans at WR? I don’t remember the squad other than Barkley/CMC and my boy Lockett

didnt really need much else with Barkley/CMC wrecking defenses all year
