Is this guy legit or what?  Two weeks with double digits and increasing targets... it's seeming more like a trend.

We have to start talking about Charknado right?

I may look for a a sell high opportunity.

I'm honestly curious, but who buys this kind of player? I've never been able to sell high on players I picked up off the wire that have performed well for a couple weeks. You can use him as a thrown in with a trade package, but I've never seen owners desperate to pay up for someone's waiver wire fodder.

I'm not looking to sell him, but pick him up.  If he can keep this output going, he'd be my WR1 in one of my leagues.  I'm dealing with Diggs, Gordon, Moore, Kirk & Fuller.

He's a decent pickup for sure, especially if you're hurting at the WR position. Funny I thought with the rookie QB, there would be lots more, dink and dunks too DeDe. Boy was I wrong, Minshew just wants to sling it downfield it appears. Boom bust WR3/4 or bye week filler hence forth.

I think in his second year, he's going to be more than that. He's the most gifted WR on that roster, imo.

Picking him up for a bye week fill in or use in case of injury type guy. There is probably one team in every league that could take a chance on Chark, never know how it will turn out.

Ohh I'm sure he could be, I was just valuing him right now as is, end of week2. He can definitely work himself into a very solid WR3 with upside, with Minshew under center. & If Foles wasn't hurt, quite possibly cracking the WR2 tier later in the season.

Lets see:

- 2nd round draft pick in 2018;

- 6'4:

- Ran a 4.34 at the combine last year;

- Plays with a QB that seems to be a gunslinger;

- Very little competition from other receivers on his own team

Based on the above, Chark is looking like he could very well be a startable player.  I still would want to see a few more weeks from him, but he has promise.

He’s also got the cool name factor so that ends up doubling his upside.

Yeah, looks like #1 for Jags. Would like to see 1 more week, just not enough time.

I was curious as to how many players over the past few years have cleared 200 receiving yards in their first two games of the season. It's a small list...but Chark is on there this season.

Looking over these names, most of them are amongst the better WR's in football. And then you have some guys who aren't big names...but did have fairly good fantasy seasons the year in question. It's no guarantee for success, but WR's who get 200+ receiving yards in their first two games, tend to have pretty good seasons overall (versus falling off the map).

Overall, per the above lists (and sorry if you can't read them on your phones; I post from a laptop where it is fine), these were the worst seasons by yardage each season, for the 200+ yardage in first 2 games players:

--2018: D.Jackson 774 yards in 12 games (pace of 1,032 yards) & E.Sanders 868 yards in 12 games (pace of 1157 yards)
--2017: both players well over 1000 yards
--2016: Fuller 635 yards in 14 games (pace of 725 yards), Jeffery 821 yards in 12 games (pace of 1094 yards) & Snead 895 yards in 15 games
--2015: T.Benjamin 966 yards in 16 games

So overall, Fuller was the only player who fell short of an 895 yard pace. Now granted with 200+ yards in the first two games, that means around 700 yards the rest of the way is not necessarily amazing. But it does mean that overall, the player ended up with a fairly solid season.

It doesn't mean Chark will be a lock for success this year...but at least in recent seasons, players who produce as much as he has the first two weeks of a season, usually do not fall off the map.

Jags fan here. I also dropped Dede for DJ Chark. I think Chark and Minshew have better chemistry going.

Count me amongst those who dropped Dede for Chark. From what I have seen, I agree towards the chemistry Chark and Minshew have had so far. And with Jacksonville seemingly on the verge of trading Ramsey, the defense will be weaker and there could be more opportunities for the offense/passing game.

Not that the players are the same, but we've seen Jacksonville players recently blow up on a bad team before (Bortles/Robinson). Nobody thought Bortles was a good QB, but Robinson had a great season with him. Hopefully Chark can catch lightning in a bottle with Minshew.

Rotoworld's August blurb:

Quote

ESPN's Mike DiRocco reports sophomore D.J. Chark has been the "most impressive receiver" at Jaguars camp this summer. This is our first blurb on Chark since the end of last season, and it's long overdue. Chark has been getting some buzz throughout the offseason but has been quiet in the preseason games, nabbing just 1-of-4 targets for two yards. But Chark has barely played, suggesting he's in good standing with the coaches. Dede Westbrook is the Jaguars wideout going in fantasy drafts, but Chark is dripping with athletic upside after testing as a 96th-percentile SPARQ athlete at last year's Combine. Chark is long (6'4/198) and fast (4.34 forty). The problem is the Jaguars figure to rotate out wide with Chark, Chris Conley, and Marqise Lee with Westbrook inside.

Tennessee is the #5 pass defense per DVOA.  Probably a good idea to keep him on the bench this week and see what Minshew can do against a good defense.  Of course, some people don't have the luxury of benching him.

DVOA for 2 games means nothing. FO knows that, too. There would be no reason to avoid Chark if you own him. Adoree Jackson is good, but he's not very good for a #1 corner.

I think he has WR3 value, but could be even better if the Jags get into scoring position more often. Right now he is doing it on very few scoring possessions. That isn't sustainable. Reminds me of Hurns a bit from a couple years back.

I think he is trending to WR2 territory myself...one more week will help us understand.  The thing I loved the most about last game was the targets...up 5 to 9 from week 1.  In PPR leagues, I thinking he's showing some strong potential.  Stong WR3/Flex now....but trending up IMO.  Me likey....

Targets are increasing and he seems to have a legit connection with Minshew. All signs pointing up on this guy and I think the volume will be there for PPR leagues.

Flexing him over Duke Johnson in 0.5 PPR this week. May not get another TD tonight but I think he'll have a solid day.

FYI If you play on Yahoo, I believe you can still add a player in the Thursday Night game DURING the game.

I grabbed TY Montgomery a couple of years ago while watching him ball out in the 2nd quarter of a Thursday game.

I’ll be watching tonight with my finger on the add/drop trigger.

Does anyone know if this is still doable on yahoo?

A dangerous game indeed. You may not be the only SHARK with the same idea.
