cishek in for 8th up 6-2 for those chasing the cubs saves.

Is this a save situation? He came in with a runner on second.

Thats not the question.  How can he be the closer when he is coming in the 8th inning?

No, he gave up the leadoff double.

Figured the guy knew that major league games are 9 innings long, not 8

kintzler grabbed at his shoulder as he was coming off the mound end of 8th.

EDIT:  Kyle Ryan - LHP - coming in to start the 9th up 6-5.

Chris Martin gives up a 2-run walk-off shout. He and Shane Greene have really acclimated themselves well into that Braves bullpen.

So it happens in real life too, not just to our fantasy teams.

phelps closes out the cubs game with the loudest fly ball you've ever seen.   back of the warning track, but gets the save.

A total crapshoot now until kimbrel comes back..lol

Yep, gotta love it.  Chicago is the new Tampa...

Cishek didn't have to ruin good ratios in the process though.  Damn...

Bradley worth the pickup?  Any chance he closes for the rest of the season?  Arizona is still sniffing the playoffs.  I just don't see how they can ride with Holland.

I was actually going to throw his name out there as a suggestion. He has saves in each of his last two appearances and it looks like the manager wants him to be the guy.

Didn't see this posted earlier. Hopefully this means Stanek will be thrust right into the closers role in Miami from the jump

St. Louis just purchased the contract of RHP Junior Fernandez from AAA Memphis.  2 saves, 3 earned runs and 23 strikeouts in 20 innings with the Redbirds

Anything to see here?

I would think that Gallegos or Miller would get a shot first. No insider info just speculation based on how they’ve pitched recently

Woodward said today that Leclerc will remain the closer even when Kelley comes back. He had a clean save last night in a 1-0 win and aside from his outings on July 28th in Oakland and August 8th against Detroit he's been pretty good. He was successful once before in the role last year so it's not crazy to think he could do well the rest of this season.

Strop activated off DL, Kintzler sent to the DL.  The Cubs save situation just got even murkier.

I didn't see it live nor did I see a direct quote anywhere from Woodward. I only saw the reports from multiple sources on Twitter that he confirmed that Leclerc has earned the closer role.
