Phillip Dorsett 2019 Outlook

Dorset looks like a good pickup if on the wire and you have the roster space.

For what it’s worth, this guy has already been way ahead on predicting DJ Chark & Darren Waller to have good years, writing these reports back in middle of summer. He’s bullish on Dorsett too prior to the whole AB thing.

good read

Well he's back on the map without Brown but he still won't do much IMO - he reminds me of Hyde or Moncrief, bounces from team to team supposedly has the tools and might show flashes but can't put it together, plus he's still buried behind Edelman and Gordon. Still he's on the Pats who like to spread it around so there's that

This guy catches everything.

Check out these highlights:

Catches with his hands, which is something I always look for cause body catchers are limited.

Those we're all his 2018 touches. Caught 76.8 percent of his passes last year, is 7 for 7 this year.

His ability to catch with his hands and at a increasingly higher percentage every year is impressive.

He reminds me a little of santonio holmes

This guy sucked with the Pats last year. What makes you think he has any value this year?

That’s not true.  He was great in the playoffs and stepped up after gordon was suspended.

There's no question he is a must own, the question is do you start him and I sure do in 12 teamers.

He's 26, 5th year... Caught 76% of his balls last year, very athletic great speed. Former 1st round pick.

Gordon is entirely unreliable.

Edleman gets hurt every year.

Gronk retired.

You want this guy on your roster. And I'm talking about trading for him now if you can.

Completely disagree with this take. Without Gronkowski or any sort of viable receiving option at TE the Pats will be running plenty of 3 wr sets. Dorsett will see plenty of snaps and targets going forward.

A breakout/ breakthrough from a former first rounder (that is only 26) with elite athleticism & agility is hardly an unlikely outcome.

Care to elaborate?

32 catches, 290 yards. Gross. What's changed to make him worth a pickup now?

“Bounces around from team to team”.... he’s on his second team and that team traded a starting QB for him. He’s “buried” behind two of the most injury prone/unreliable WRs in the game. You’re so far off the mark you started referring to Native Americans as “Indians”.

5 catches for 34 yards is stepping it up?

And 5 catches for 80 yards in 3 playoff games is GREAT?

Maybe not statistically but they were some clutch catches in big moments and he definitely gained Brady’s/McDaniels trust.  So that fact combined with a amount of points this offense will score makes for a worth while ww grab.  Not saying he’s gonna be AB 2.0, but that’s about as much upside you can find on the wire at this point....

If anything, the news makes James White relevant again. They’ll likely just run the ball more now too instead of playing Madden.

Realistically now, this is probably true. I'm not saying PD will be the next Terry McLaurin but he could become a serviceable WR3 at some point and a good BYE week fill in.

We all know that if they lose Gordon OR Julian then BB will go get someone else very talented to fill their rolls.

Dorsett played 84% of snaps in week 1(pre AB)

Gordon played only 70% that week

Edelman is the clear #1 option but Dorsett is definitely #2

With no viable TE Dorsett will get plenty of targets all year

Must own player

Dorsett is three months younger than Tyler Lockett and they have a very similar profile/ skill set. obviously Lockett is probably going to see considerably more targets, but I don’t think 55/900/6 is that far fetched.

He has 7 targets total despite all the snaps
