Auction Draft Results?

Recommended Posts

With how skewed a lot of sites default rankings are (specifically ESPN right now), I feel like it's tough to gauge auction draft strategies as most mock drafts I've tried are trash.

Does anyone have any results from their auction drafts they can share? Think having one place to aggregate them could be a good strategy for everyone's benefit

Guess I'll start.

Y! 12 team H2H 9 cat. Ended up punting FT% but sort of unconventional result.

Budget $200
1. (6) LeBron James (LAL - SF,PF) $54
2. (14) Bradley Beal (Was - SG) $45
3. (44) Clint Capela (Hou - PF,C) $27
4. (54) D'Angelo Russell (GS - PG,SG) $27
5. (64) Jamal Murray (Den - PG,SG) $11
6. (66) Al Horford (Phi - PF,C) $5
7. (86) Montrezl Harrell (LAC - PF,C) $8
8. (94) Kevon Looney (GS - PF,C) $5
9. (100) T.J. Warren (Ind - SF,PF) $8
10. (111) Derrick White (SA - PG,SG) $4
11. (114) Dwight Powell (Dal - PF,C) $1
12. (122) Collin Sexton (Cle - PG) $2
13. (123) Taurean Prince (Bkn - SF) $3
Unused $0

Make of it what you will. I feel weak in rebounds against other punt FT% builds in my league, but I'll generally have the advantage in scoring and maybe assists as well.

Looks like money very well spent. All top guys deserve those money and from pick 5 and then all of them will live up to this value for sure.

10-team roto, 9-cat. First ever auction other than the one mock I found time to do earlier on. Fell for a trick I knew to avoid beforehand by spending big on Ayton, drafted some players as a result of failed bluffs on my part. Anyway, I'm not quite sure what to think of it, missed out on a fair few of my targeted players:

5
Stephen Curry GS, PG
$57
10
Deandre Ayton Phx, C
$40
32
Jayson Tatum Bos, SF
$14
40
Mike Conley Utah, PG
$14
46
$9
51
$12
70
Myles Turner Ind, C
$20
97
Josh Richardson Phi, SF
$21
110
Miles Bridges Cha, SF
$4
111
Rudy Gay SA, SF
$2
119
$3
123
Delon Wright Dal, PG
$1
126
JaVale McGee LAL, C
$1

I actually like that roster, don't think you overspent anywhere.

Mind sharing the results of the whole draft? Curious to see how much the rest of the guys went for

Roto 9-cats 10 teams Yahoo friendly league.

No one had ever made an auction draft before, so we were all in the fog. 2 teams finished with 50$ unused.

I ended up with Porz, Mitchell and Dray only because i wanted to raise their prices 😅

I think i have to trade Mitch or Porz for a solid FT% guard.

Lol with just 10 teams you could overpay a bunch of players and still have a monster lineup. Anyway heres mine:

12 team standard 9cat Roto league:

Bradley Beal - 43$

Paul George - 40$

Jrue Holiday - 32$

Buddy Hield - 25$

Lamarcus Aldridge - 18$

Lauri Markkanen - 11$

Hassan Whiteside - 7$

Gary Harris - 7$

Dewayne Dedmon - 4$

Derrick White - 4$

Taurean Prince - 7$

Kevin Huerter - 1$

DeAndre Hunter - 1$

Value picks everywhere but overspent on Buddy Hield and Gary/Dedmon were forced picks since pool was drying up.

I agree, it does look like money well spent. Jamal Murray at $11 and Horford at $5 jump out at me and Derrick White at $4 could be great. If Collin Sexton can keep improving, you'll be awfully happy with his $2 salary.

You're weak on 3s and assists. Not bad but steph wasn't utilized efficiently. Not a championship team but could sneak to the playoffs. I'd try to trade steph.

Drummond is killing your team. Trade him. He doesn't fit. Other than that, very solid. Trade Drummond for vucevic if possible.

Sorry this isn’t from an auction draft. It was a 14 team, head to head draft and I had the 8th pick. I didn’t see an active H2H thread, so I didn’t know where to post my squad. Can anyone tell me how I did? I’m worried about my points and 3 pointers. It also seems like other people punted strongly in the same categories as me. Pretty much got stuck drafting Lebron, Wasn’t trying to take Beal, Irving or Lillard with my first pick. Decided to punt FT and TO, but idk how well it turned out.

LeBron- 8

Drummond - 21

Mitchell Robinson - 36

Bledsoe - 49

Isaac - 64

LeVert - 77

Smart - 92

Delon Wright - 105

Derrick White - 120

Zach Collins - 133

Poeltl - 148

Jerami Grant - 161

Dennis Smith JR - 178

Yup, I messed up by losing restraint when bidding for Ayton and lost a lot of my targets. Out of this lot, one odd man out is Big Mitch imho. If I'd manage to work out a target, I'd want to use him as a piece to get someone at PF/SF who could aid me with either assists or treys. No clue if I can pull anything off tho

Lol this is terrible advice. “You’re weak on 3s and assists so trade the best 3s and assists guy in the league”

Hi Guys,

12 team, 12 players (one C), 9 categories. Just finished 6th season of our competitive league auction draft. I’d have to say the draft was very weird where Devin Booker was drafted at $25 dollars and Mitchell Robinson at $18.

I guess a lot of the targeted players were overlapping; so before going to draft I was planning something instead of star scrub, I’d aim for more average approach this year, making Trae Young my first pick at a budget around $40.

And when Anthony Davis got nominated, my fingers just kept clicking, it turned out my roster was nothing like how I plotted. Here is my draft result:

1. Anthony Davis - $79

2. DeAndre Ayton - $36

3. Jaren Jackson Jr. - $30

4. Ricky Rubio - $11

5. Thomas Bryant - $12

6. Jonathan Issac - $16

7. JaVale McGee - $4

8. Gary Harris - $6

9. T.J. Warren - $3

10. Kevin Huerter - $1

11. Nicolas Batum - $1

12. DeAndre Hunter - $1

I'd try to trade mitch for brook Lopez although mitch is higher value. It would be help your team but maybe you can do a 2 for 2 where you get brook Lopez + 1 for mitch + 1 with the other +1 being lower ranked and that could take care of both of your problems. I'd maybe wait til mitch has a monster week in blocks and see what happens.

What good is 5 3s a game if you lose 3s every week? What good is 7 assists a game if you can't win assists? Lol. Either punt and strengthen your other cats or target more 3s and assists and try to make up for it. But as is, steph is being totally underutilized. Its like having Gobert on a punt fg% team, makes no sense. You can try to get more, or you can punt, but anywhere in between is going to equate to bad news. Based on his entire team, he has a very far uphill climb to contend in 3s and assists so trading steph for KAT or AD will make him elite in the cats he already has and significantly strengthen his team.

Looks like a punt assist team that needs help in steals. Rubio is hurting your team. Wait for him to play well then trade him for someone who will get you more steals with a higher fg% and 3s. Can't think of anyone off the top of my head but Rubio is the odd ball that doesn't fit with that lineup. If you can trade Rubio + 1 for otto porter you're in great shape. Getting adebayo or siakam on that squad would be epic.

8 Cat roto $500 buy-in.  Had computer issues and autodrafted Griffin for $18 which is fine:

Russell Westbrook: $39

Enes Kanter: $4

Nikola Jokic: $53

Nikola Vucevic:$34

Blake Griffin:$18

Victor Oladipo
$5

Kyle Lowry
$21

Miles Bridges
$12

Larry Nance Jr.
$6

Dewayne Dedmon
$2

Patrick Beverley
$2

Joe Harris
$1

Ish Smith
$1

Kris Dunn
$1

Lineup:

Westbrook, Lowry, Beverley, Dunn

Harris, Dipo

Bridges

Griffin, Nance, Kanter

Jokic, Vucevic, Dedmon

Bold denotes rostered players.

Another One: $150 buy-in 16 team H2H.  Autodrafted PG13 for $50.  I was livid about it until I saw the prices at the end of the draft, things such as Sabonis and Isaac for $33.  9 cat H2H.  16 teams but shorter benches to accommodate means that everyone is going for way more than usual.

1.(5)Paul George (LAC - SF,PF)$50

2.(33)Mike Conley (Uta - PG)$22

3.(52)Robert Covington (Min - SF,PF)$24

4.(61)Al Horford (Phi - PF,C)$17

5.(70)Zach LaVine (Chi - PG,SG)$24

6.(78)Kyle Lowry (Tor - PG)$28

7.(87)Brook Lopez (Mil - C)$25

8.(117)Dwight Powell (Dal - PF,C)$6

9.(119)Cody Zeller (Cha - PF,C)$2

10.(157)Will Barton (Den - SG,SF)$1

11.(164)Maxi Kleber (Dal - PF)

Team:

Lowry, Conley

Lavine, Barton

PG13, RoCo

Powell, Kleber, Zeller,

BroLo, Horford

Punt FG/Rebs.  Big men were going for such exaggerated prices that my intent became punt FG/rebounds but also nab those undervalued bigs who get blocks and don't hurt your FT% (even if they rebound poorly).

Well, it being a roto league helps mitigate this a bit, though I could still do with a more balanced roster
