  1. Why does it matter if the virus is tricky? Should that not just further support the idea that they need to be careful? I’m a bit confused by the italicized part. Did I miss something from earlier in the thread - where is that from? Of course we don’t understand everything with this virus, but the incident you describe could have so many variables affecting those individuals it would blow your mind. The individual could have ignored proper protocol, forgotten a part of it, been in worse health (overweight, sleep-deprived, ate terribly, smoked, low vit d status, etc etc). why does it matter if anyone tested positive? It’s the intent and selfish action that matters. If someone recklessly pulls out a gun and it accidentally fires at you or you sleep with someone who lies about having HIV, sure it’s better that you not get shot or catch HIV but you’re still pissed off, it’s completely negligent, and any trust you had is destroyed.
  2. For shame!!! All of you heathens merrily going about your day, still enjoying baseball after my death! Go now and enjoy a bowl of hearty Quaker Oats so that I may spare your souls. Maybe become a farmer in my memory as I loved chickens and pigs and ducks. I was kind of fond of nanny goats too, I was. Go ahead do it. You know it’s the right thing to do and the tasty way to do it!
  3. Thanks Backdoor. I agree with his post completely and in fact love what he is stating. I'm not sure where he says there is no threat. He states he is concerned, yet not scared at all. Again, I agree the overall threat is low, and the hysteria is the biggest problem and it is nauseating. I'll stop though as it's probably pointless. I apologize to all for belaboring the point - I'm done. He says " I am not scared of Covid-19. I am concerned about the implications of a novel infectious agent that has spread the world over and continues to find new footholds in different soil. I am rightly concerned for the welfare of those who are elderly, in frail health or disenfranchised who stand to suffer mostly, and disproportionately, at the hands of this new scourge. But I am not scared of Covid-19." And I remembered the Simpson's episode which reminds me of the media today - “But first, let’s check the death count from the killer storm bearing down on us like a shotgun full of snow!” – Kent Brockman “Well Kent, as of now the death count is zero, but it is ready to shoot right up.” – Meterologist “Oh my god. Damn you, snow!” – Kent Brockman “All right, snow day! No school tomorrow!” – Bart Simpson “That doesn’t mean you don’t have to do your book report. What if the weatherman is wrong?” – Lisa Simpson “Lisa, that man is a professional meteorologist.” – Bart Simpson “Kent, I’d like to remind everybody to come down and watch me at the Springfield Laugh ‘N Brew, and burgers and fries this Saturday. The forecast calls for a 75% chance of hilarity.” – Meterologist “I like those odds.” – Homer Simpson https://deadhomersociety.com/2010/02/10/quote-of-the-day-snowpocalypse-edition/
  4. I disagree. It's implied by saying it's not a real threat. Be well.
  5. I absolutely am referring to you. I would have tagged you, but you didn't respond when I did so initially. I also make these arguments as of the day I originally wrote my message. You stated "Coronavirus is not a real threat. The media hysterics and driving people to a panic is the damage being done." People buying out everything, such as medical masks is both ridiculous and dangerous. It's ridiculous that I had to ask my neighbor for toilet paper because it's been sold out around me - that's really not a conversation that I ever wanted to have. I absolutely agree that that the hysteria is absolutely ridiculous. I agree that right now (and most likely overall) that the hysteria damage is much more that the virus may cause. What I disagree with your saying that "Coronavirus is not a real threat." That is absolutely incorrect and it is insulting to the many devoting so much time and effort combating this threat which you say is not real. Why are they if it is not real? Are they wasting there time then? It sounds like it if this is not a real threat according to you. Again, the hysteria is unwarranted (it never helps with anything) and it is more of a threat right now. You can have two threats at the same time. You can also have a threat and it be a very low risk, especially with many awesome people working hard to keep it so. China is a threat in many ways, yet there is no need to panic. There is a lot the US does to deal with that threat. Emerging viruses are a tremendous potential threat. It's very easy to say something will work out when you are not involved in dealing with it and I hear far too many Americans take things for granted and dismiss many threats that resolve because of hard work by others. The bottom line: When you state that something is not real or that it is minor and many people are working hard on it to keep it that way, it's a bit hard not to take it in an insulting manner.
  6. I absolutely agree with this. I’m not saying this was directed at me, but my disagreement (and possibly others) with a poster’s statement was that it was not a real threat. It absolutely is (it’s nowhere near a world-ender, it’s a potential big disruptor) and labeling something as such does not equate to hysteria. I think dismissing minimizes what those working so diligently on our behalf are doing. But the media is absolutely doing it’s thing. It reminds me of an old Simpson’s episode. While I don’t post much I appreciate (and learn a lot from) your posts. I think your residual effects may be from Space Herpes (Ice Pirates). I’ll try not to post further on this as we have a bigger threat - 2ndCitySox is dying over this thread!
  7. Trust me, I’m not basing my thoughts on mainstream media information. I’m not sure where I ever said that over reaction by the general public was good. If so, please point it out. My point was that saying this is not a real threat is incorrect. It has the potential to be and should be handled as such until proven otherwise.
  8. Is there too much hysteria? Yes, it sure seems to be. Is this likely to end up looking like something minor and an overreaction when all is said and done? Most likely and I sure hope so. Too say that “It is not a real threat” is beyond ludicrous. This has the potential to wreak havoc on the economy globally and potentially kill who knows how many numbers from 0.8 to 2 pct and much higher have been thrown around. That’s a hell of a lot of people potentially, will cost a hell of a lot to handle that, and it could cost a hell of a lot to contain. Potential catastrophes seem like nothing until they aren’t. Is it possible we are barely affected? Sure. Do I think it’s time to grab your guns and run for the hills. No. What you say in a later post i agree with in taking proper precautions. That’s about all that is in the average person’s hands. Neither you nor I have enough knowledge to know at this point. And that’s just it, you have act with a sense of urgency in advance because you don’t know until it’s too late. There’s a hell of a lot of people working hard right now to help prevent this and it’s pretty ignorant and insulting to say that this Coronavirus is not a real threat IMO. I agree with you as well in that I am not going to adjust my rankings in any way. Just out of curiosity, how would you do that anyway?
  9. Didn’t expect it. My other hope is that none would score 6.1 pts or more. Of course Pascal did, who would have been my safe start. Why? Because I beyond reason last second benched Drake for Laird and had I started Drake like I intended plus Pascal I would have won by .3 points. Aahhhhhggg. This will haunt me for a while
  10. I think it’s fine to drop Slayton for Perriman with your lineup - would Slaton really even sniff it with how deep you are at WR? At this point you want quality. I like Slayton, but Perriman is isa bettersituation. I like getting Mattison but he’s not sure to start and cook is sounding like he could be back (I’m not sure how though with how in agony he looked and his shoulder problems)
  11. Sanders, Thielen, and Perrimen. Allen, I guess, but i want to say manning.
  12. I would do mack and Pascal if TY were definitely out. Not knowing I guess you have to do Freeman
  13. I'm starting Parker at one of those spots - who would you ax first of Sutton, Slayton, and Pascal? Thanks a bunch!
  14. I hope I am wrong because I am going against Mostert and have Laird, but I think Mostert. That said, I think there's more risk with Mostert as it's possible the other RBs get fed.
  15. Agree. Jimmy G. I am starting him myself. he has a nice matchup and great weapons today.
  16. My team has been wrecked by injuries in a 0.5 PPR league. I'm playing the top team and he already had Lamar Jackson go off so I need high ceiling guys. I need to fill 2 WR, 2RB and 1 Flex Slot. I'm definitely starting Parker in 1 WR slot. So who else to start of: Mixon (hate the matchup but guaranteed to get touches) Mack Drake Laird Sutton Pascal TY Hilton Slayton I appreciate any and all advice. WHIR Thanks
  17. Thanks. Forgot to say 0.5 PPR. Yeah, I’ve been reading that he will. I’m so desperate that I won’t believe it until 5 minutes before game time :)
  18. How do you rank these guys for week 15? I need upside as I’m playing the top team and his Lamar Jackson is tearing it up. This team really shouldn’t even be in it with all its injuries. Mixon - tough damn matchup Mack - I’m so unimpressed with him this year Laird - am I insane to like him more than Mack this week? Washington (if he plays I like him the best) Thanks and WHIR
  19. I think you have a safe floor with Baker and his matchup, with some upside. thank you for your help!
  20. Thanks. I need upside! I’ve lost all my RBs and cobbled a few together. The healthy ones have crap matchups and I may have to start Laird (plus start him over Mixon) alongside Mack.
