How we feel about La'Mical Perine? Besides gase of course.

His pass protection is shaky, but could get better with a real preseason/camp. Mims and Mekhi Becton look good...Becton is really good actually.  Assuming the Jets continue building the OL and draft Trevor Lawrence they might have a decent offense next year.  There are so many positions to fill, Perine could end up with a role by default.

I have seen this idea going around.  Unfortunately, I just saw this post, as I don't check the forums very much during the season itself.  Given that it's now 2:54 PM CT on Sunday, I unfortunately don't think this is something we can implement this week.  I'm not opposed to doing something similar going forward.

I'll send an e-mail to everybody to get thoughts.  My thought is that if the majority of folks in the league want to do this, then we'll do it the rest of the season.

Did you guys ever so this?

If so I should have said something this week, I could have used my Steelers.  I'm more annoyed with myself for believing the NFL might cancel the game after listening to all the talking heads.  I should have realized the NFL isn't cancelling games unless a large asteroid hits the earth.

I think we also know that NFL players are extremely low risk of having problems with Covid.  The NFL is basically just saying what most of us are thinking.

Low risk of complications for NFL players from what we know, but high impact if you get them.

If it were Pat Mahomes the league would be flipping out.

hey, Sharky ... look, i think he's a major numb nutz, as well - total jagoff, no argument from me there.

but if a team took him in a trade, even for a cotdamn kicking tee, they woulda been on the hook for the contract coin ... so the fact that they had no suitors on that front is not shocking at all - Jets prolly contacted a few (Chiefs were one, if that tweet i posted is to be given merit), and knew it was furile given the money peripherals, so the simply canned his azz toot sweet.

jury is still out for me in regards to him even being 50% of what he once was - but i think you're going waayyy overboard here, good buddy.

It ends up that the Jets along with other teams were more afraid of an injury clause in 2020 that guaranteed 8M of his 2021 salary.

With that contract gone, and assuming he wants to play, some team will sign him to the minimum at least.

He never laid down... Dude worked hard to be in the best shape of his life... His coach just refused to use him correctly.

Designing wheel routes for Frank Gore and throwing slants to Jeff Smith are just starting examples.

He got plenty of usage last season, and he played his heart out behind a garbage offensive line alongside a garbage offense.

Gase didn't misuse him last season, he just can't carry a whole offense...running backs don't really do that.

It's suprising he lasted this long knowing the GM thought he was overpaid and the coach never wanted him.

We taking bets here? If so, give me the Cardinals.

I know the Cardinals gave David Johnson a bad contract then moved away from him... but they have Drake looking like a JAG and averaging 3.7 YPC and playing on a one year transition tag, so there isn't commitment there.

Maybe more importantly, their runningback coach is James Saxon. The same RB coach that was in Pittsburgh 2014-18 (AKA when Bell was selected to 3 pro bowls and named to the first team All-Pro twice).

Cardinals with Hopkins, LeVeon, and Kyler Murray would be very fun to watch.

Interesting point about their RB coach.  Good info.

Not that the Cardinals would do this, but: Can you imagine if they traded Drake to the Jets?  He might jump out of the plane on the way to NY.

Presumably the tanking Jets aren't planning to "see what they have in" Gore, who is an aging, known commodity.  They might as well see what they have here with Perine.

You would think that.  Any reasonable fantasy owner would.  Most real life GMs and Coaches would.  But let me tell you about the New York Jets.......

The Bears were the first team I thought of. Montgomery hasn’t been the answer & Bell actually looked pretty good on Sunday. And if the Jets are only looking for a 5th -7th round pick, the Bears GM will probably overspend & send them a 3rd

Well, Ryan Pace drafted Trubisky and hired Nagy so he'd be the first one to call.

Bell is better than Ronald Jones?  In what way?  Please, pray tell.

At the very least Bell is much better than Ronald Jones and Fournette at pass protection.

I doubt Tampa is trading for Bell at mid-Covid season, paying a few million extra at RB and dealing with any headaches Bell might cause.

The Jets aren't getting squat for Bell, Devonta Freeman was a free agent until a few weeks ago.  Yeah he was team shopping a bit, but the league is full of RB talent right now.

On a side note, I don't think Bell is shot at all, the Jets are just trash.  In the right situation he would still produce as a starter.

Think TB and KC might be sleepers to come in and swoop him. KC still wants to utilize a second back, and Williams has been horrible. TB is bouncing between Fournette and Jones, but honestly, Bell is just a better version of Jones.

KC didn't want him last year when reporters asked about it.

Gotta feature the dude if they want to trade him. That hasn't been happening when they trot out Frank Gore for 9 touches.

They've been trying to make sure he doesn't get hurt.  Hence the light load in training camp, and the IR for a hamstring injury.

They've been trying to trade him since May of 2019 after signing him in March of 2019.  Don't blame Gase, blame the dysfunctional ownership who waited until after free agency and the draft in 2019 to fire the GM.
