Attached are our orphaned teams that are available and rules from last year for our unique football league:
Host: Fantrax, with funds collected and held through Fantrax’s Treasurer Feature
The cost per season is $55. This covers the league buy-in and Fantrax’s premium fee. The most important part of this dynasty league is longevity. To ensure that we get committed owners, we’ll ask that you pay for two seasons up front ($110). After each season, including the first season, you’ll make a $55 payment. So you are constantly paid two years in advance. If you abandon your team the advanced payment would be used to find a new owner. If the league where to disband for any reason you’ll get your advance payment back.
Each team will play each other once. The team with the best record at the end of week 15 is the regular season champion. All ties are broken by total points scored.
From week 13 to week 16 there will be a single elimination tournament to determine the FA Cup winner. All 16 teams will be seeded based on the standings after week 12 and be placed in the FA Cup Tournament. This tournament will run alongside the regular season, so you will play two games during the weeks you are in the FA Cup. When week 13 arrives a bracket will be sent out that shows your FA Cup match-up. You will play that opponent that week AND whoever was your scheduled regular season match-up. When going to live scoring from the league’s page you’ll see a match-up for both games. You’ll set just one line-up for the week, but your team plays against two opponents. If you lose your FA Cup matchup then you are out of the FA Cup tournament but can still compete for the regular season championship. If your team is out of the regular season champion race, you can still get hot at the end of the season and win the FA Cup.
You’ll start 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, and 3 FLEX (RB/WR/TE). 16 bench spots give you a total of 25 roster spots with three additional spots for injured reserves.
Passing TD = 4
Passing yards = 1 point every 20 yards
Rushing TD = 6
Rushing yards = 1 point every 10 yards
Reception = 1
Receiving TD = 6
Receiving yards = 1 point every 10 yards
Once the league is filled and everyone is paid, the draft order will be determined randomly through Fantrax. We’ll start the draft the day after notice is given to everyone. The start-up draft will be a slow draft with 4 hours allowed for your pick to be made with the clock frozen from midnight to 6AM eastern each night.
The rookie draft will take place in July of each summer. This is a 3 round draft where only rookies can be drafted.
Part 1 Commissioner Policed Tanking
This part of the rule would give me the power to bring consequences to any team whose owner does not make an attempt to field their best starting roster. If tanking is suspected, a complaint should be sent to me. I will evaluate each instance on a case-by-case basis to a) determine if tanking has occurred and b) what the consequence should be. Any owner who is accused of tanking would be allowed to plead their case to me. If, in my judgment, an owner is trying to lose they would forfeit their best available pick in the upcoming draft. If the instance is a misunderstanding (forgot to set lineup for a Thursday game, on vacation, etc) then a warning may be issued. If this misunderstanding happens again a pick may be taken away though it may necessarily be your best available pick. I know this may sound harsh for a few innocent mistakes, but these innocent mistakes could directly impact the standings and in turn impact everyone in the league.
In short, I would be able to rule on whether or not tanking has occurred and would be able to deliver and carry out the consequence of said tanking. The three possible consequences could be 1) the loss of your best pick in the upcoming draft 2) the loss of a pick in the upcoming draft (round determined by me) or 3) a warning. I know a few of you have mentioned a more cut and dry system (1st offense warning, 2nd offense loss of 1 pick, etc), but I don’t want someone to hang a 0 on the board the last week of the season just because he knows he’ll just get a warning. At the same time I want to be understanding of someone who truly made a mistake and is not tanking. And I believe this method allows me to take each situation in its context.
Part 2 Draft Lottery
As explained in the forum, the bottom 8 teams would participate in a lottery for the first 8 picks. Balls will be placed in a bucket and drawn for each draft spot. The 16th place team would have 8 balls in the bucket, the 15th place 7 balls, and so on until the 9 place team has 1 ball in. I would do the lottery on video (preferably live somehow) for fidelity purposes. My hope is that by doing a lottery we can still try to get the bottom teams some help but still not completely reward their losing. The lottery will only determine the top three picks. After the top three are determined, the rest of the round 1 will be determined by reverse order of the standings. Rounds 2 and 3 will not be influenced by the lottery, and will be determined by the reverse order of the standings.
Part 3 Champions Cup
A new Cup would be put into place. This would NOT replace the FA Cup as that would still run on weeks 13-16 of the season and feature all teams. The Champions Cup would run on weeks 1-3 of the following season and feature the top 8 teams from the previous season. So if this rule were to pass for the 2018 season, the first Champions Cup would run on weeks 1-3 of the 2019 season. So if you did not make the lottery for the 2019 rookie draft, you would then be in contention for the Champions Cup in weeks 1-3 of the 2019 season. This would be a single elimination tournament that would run parallel with the regular season. Just like our FA Cup, if you are participating in the Champions Cup you would have two matchups that week, your regular season opponent and your Champions Cup opponent. And your record in the Champions Cup does not count towards your record for the regular season. Unlike the FA Cup, there would be no seeding. Matchups for the first round would be done at random. If this is to work we’ll have to rearrange our payouts. Here’s what it would look like:
2018 Regular Season Champion - $350
2018 Regular Season Runner-Up - $150
2018 FA Cup Champion - $150
2019 Champions Cup Champion - $150
