Speculation in the LA Times that he will platoon with Pederson.

With that massive contract only in year two the Dodgers will sit him three quarters of the time?  It's the right move to make, but financially it's tough to have a contract that big on the bench so often.

Nah, next year we're gonna be debating Alvarez as a top 5 pick. I think the other two guys will perform a little below their draft price but not less than a round, which is why they are a good core to have.

Marte had a great year last year, but was not a power hitter before, so he needs to do it again to be worth his current price tag. Alonso does have great power and 1B is weaker than ever, but you'll get the chance to grab a 1B with 30 HR power at some point in every draft. Encarnacion in the 15th or Christian Walker in the 18th are pretty valuable to me.

Had my first really tough choice in the fourth round.  Debated between Meadows and Springer.  Took Springer but tried my best to trade back a few slots so I could get Meadows and move up in a few rounds.

Bregman, Rendon, Yordan and Springer.  Pretty damn confident with four of the five offensive categories.  Hopefully Houston plays with a chip on their shoulder to prove the haters wrong.

Your first two picks are nice in OBP league, so Alvarez will give you the 3 headed monster and allow you to pursue some lower power, SB guys in the next few rounds. Nothing wrong with the next tier of starters, even if you miss those guys mentioned, you'll still be able to get a guy like Darvish, Greinke, Nola, Giolito, maybe 2 of those guys even?

That's what I was thinking.  I would be a stud with four of the five offensive categories.  Am I correct in valuing Yordan more than Alonso or Marte?  I'm just a bit nervous that the knee injury could turn into a potential IL trip for Alvarez.

And the sign stealing shouldn't be an issue I'm assuming since Yordan's road numbers are still excellent.

  4. My first two selections were Bregman and Rendon.  On the board for my third round pick are:  Alonso, Corbin, Castillo, Alvarez, Clevinger, Snell, Ketel Marte.

My natural inclination is to avoid pitching with a third round pick.  With Snell, Clevinger, Castillo and Corbin on the board should I change my mind?

Who should I go with?  PS:  stats for the league are runs, rbis, OBP, stolen bases, Homers.  And era, whip, k's, saves and wins.

Alvarez is who I'm leaning towards, since he has the most offensive upside and has outfield eligbility in my league.  anyone nervous about the bad knee?

Targeting him #9 in my OBP plus SLG league.

Took a look at both his second half And road splits from last year and I’m pretty convinced I’m getting Soto with 3b/ss eligibility (hoping Soto falls to 9 but unlikely in this format).

Odd coincidence.  I had pick nine and took Bregman.  Soto was taken two slots before.  Otherwise I would have had a really tough choice between the two.

The trash can situation isn’t a big deal to me since his road numbers were just as good.  And other than steals Bregman is likely to give elite production in all areas.  Plus he has versatility being eligible at short and third.

Cool.  We determine the draft order as soon as all 12 are paid up.  We do it KDS style (see post on league site for description).  I suppose 10-team would be an absolute last resort, but I've done this league the last 5 years and we have always filled up to 12.  So it shouldn't be an issue.

Payment sent. Team name is the Springfield Isotopes and the leaguesafe name is Isotopes88.  So will draft pick trading be allowed?

Hey Magnus - yeah with 9 people already paid, I'm sure you can understand why I can't change any rules at this point.  Usually in the offseason/preseason there's some discussion about tweaking settings (we've had long discussions about W vs. QS - I think they're both very flawed), but once people start paying we are locked in with the draft time and settings.  Would be happy to have you join, but unfortunately no settings are changing for the 2020 season.  Thanks!

Alright I'm in.  I'll pay within the next day.

When is draft positioning figured it out?  Also is pick trading allowed?  And if you only get 10 owners, rather than 12, would you still have a league take place?

Well at this point who knows if/when the baseball season will start, but we are still planning to draft!

I'm very interested in joining.  Any chance you can get rid of the second catcher?  If you can I'll pay either tonight or tomorrow.  I'd suggest converting from wins to quality starts as well, but I won't get greedy.

Year 6 of this league with a good core of returning managers, but we need to fill a few more slots for managers who left.  $250 entry on Leaguesafe with majority approval on payouts.  Payout amounts are $750/$500/$250 for 1st/2nd/3rd in the regular season and $750/$500/$250 for 1st/2nd/3rd in the playoffs.  Standard 5x5 head-to-head categories on Yahoo (with OBP instead of AVG).  Daily lineups with weekly waivers and deep roto-style rosters.  Draft is at 5pm pst on Saturday 3/21.  Link is below to join or see settings.  First 12 to pay on Leaguesafe are in.  Let me know if there are any questions, thanks!

Same amount of starting pitchers as relievers for lineups?  Has this been your format for years?  Every league I’ve ever been in has had more starters than relievers.

We can discuss with the league if everyone is okay with changing to OBP. We have always played BA. You must have seen it wrong, we play standard scoring, pitching is 5 categories. K, W, SV, ERA, WHIP.

Any chance you can survey the owners in your league about a possible switch to OBP?

I’m open to signing up within the next day or so if you can switch to OBP.  Otherwise I would have to overhaul my positional player drafting thought process.

I’d love to switch from wins to quality starts too.  But I won’t get too greedy asking for changes.

First come first serve, I can send you an invite if you want one!

Oh wait. I thought there was only one opening remaining.  If there’s multiple slots available I think I might be able to take one.

Where I’ll be at that Sunday I might not have access to a computer.  Is drafting via the app just as easy as via the regular site?

Email for an invite is sps82088@yahoo.com

Deeper cats has become more popular over the last several years. I include more cats over the basic 5x5 because many of the cats in the 5x5 aren't good measures of a player's skill/value and are more or less fluke statistics. Additionally, the deeper cat league induce more in-week strategy. I really prefer them to 5x5.

There are a few owners across all the leagues, but mostly a mix.

Hope you decide to join. The $300 8x8 is the closest to filling at the moment.

By the way, what happens if a league I join doesn't have enough members come draft time?  Would you be open to have a slightly smaller league?  Like ten teams, rather than twelve.

For the 400 dollar 8x8 are you open to moving the time up an hour or so?  Also since you're not wanting to include superfluous statistics have you thought about eliminating strikeouts for hitters and wins for pitchers?
