"You play the game to win the World Series. Cy Young's are nice, they really are. They're great and I'm proud of them...but easily the biggest thing I've accomplished is getting that World Series ring." Greg Maddux

  2. We haven't had a League Champion win in back-to-back seasons in 20 years.

We need 2 replacement owners in our intense, deep, Auction, Mixed, H2H League.

2020 will be our 35th consecutive season. Our past winners include a precocious 14 year old (currently a golf pro); a fellow who started as a sideline a sports card manufacturing company with $12,000 and worked at it parts of 2 days a week for less than 5 years and then sold it for $5+ million; a rock band's lead guitarist; a former first round pick by the Knicks whose boyhood dream was to be the next Willie Mays even though he was left-handed and 6'10"; a 300 pound lineman who has always thought of himself as Satchel Paige; a former essential U.S. leader in the Green Zone in Baghdad, a homeless pauper, a chain smoking tort attorney, and several garden variety baseball obsessed fans who look and act like you and me.

A host of other characters never won a pennant. Jose Canseco's agent didn't win. Neither did the southpaw who dated Sandy Koufax's girl friend's daughter while he was in Spring Training with the Dodgers. The former NCAA career Ks leader came up short. Neither did the third hardest NCAA hitter to strike out while a senior. A 400 pound used baseball card shop owner wasn’t stout enough. We’ve had an umpire from the Little League World Series, Mr. Moms, Longhorns, Gamecocks, Badgers, millionaires, a radio play by play announcer for two different MLB clubs, a missionary, a climate scientist, an ex-catcher whose baseball idol is Ricky Henderson (go figure)... I could go on and on. What we have always had in common is a love of baseball and that none of us is a rocket scientist. Anybody and everybody can compete and have fun.

  12. Why Should A Potential Replacement Team  Owner Want To Compete In Our League Instead of Another?

We are different and better. And it’s not hyperbole, wishful thinking, or self -delusionment. Decide for yourself.

We don’t believe in saddling new Replacement team owners with poor teams, but the very nature of the game means the vast majority of  team ownerships turn over, not because the previous owner moved to Bora Bora and now spends his days contemplating his good fortune between its stunning beaches, lush greenery, and soaring volcanic peaks.  No, he usually skips out because his team is insufficiently competitive. Bad owners are frequently the ones who bail out, jump ship, or escape rather than face the prospect of working diligently on  a fixer-upper they largely created.

At the same time we feel strongly that we have fewer Ghost Teams during the dog days of August when every team in our league will play in our end of  season playoffs and each owner has the opportunity to identify and keep a core of good bargains from season to season. Yet that is not enough to retain yellow-bellied, notoriously bad owners, so how do we correct the imbalance when it occurs? And it will happen if your League is not comprised of primarily one and done team owners. After all this will be our 35th consecutive season.

    Here’s how.

Let’s talk in concrete terms about the the 3 new replacement teams for the 2020 season. One team was very, very good. It had well over 25 potentially valuable keeper players. It’s owner had two jobs and was going to graduate school on the side. It all proved too much to juggle. A second team had close to 15 worthwhile keepers, and the third team had about 5 to 7 keepers at salaries and contracts which could easily prove valuable in 2020.

The process: we combined the over 125 MLB players on those 3 teams and selected the 45 best bargains. We did the same with their farm players and selected the 12 best bargains. All the rest, over 80 players, we released back into our 2020 Auction Pool.

Now to achieve parity, competitiveness, and to endow the three new Replacement Owners with a sense of building their own core of Keepers, rather than inheriting the 3 previously mismatched, abandoned teams, the three new replacement owners will have a 15-round MLB Snake Draft and a four-round Farm Snake Draft in order that the three Replacement Owners can select their own keepers.

Let’s go one step further. Our League has no Keeper Freeze Roster minimums, only maximums of 15 and 6 respectively for MLB and Farm players. What if in the late rounds of the Snake Draft a Replacement Owner doesn’t see any remaining players he would like to own going into our Auction Day. He’d rather have the money to spend under our salary cap and a slot to fill with an acquisition. After in the not too distant past we have had Pennant winners had only four and six players on their respective keeper rosters. Fine, only draft from the draft pool the players you want. Stop when there are no more attractive ones or you have reached the limits of 15 and 6, whichever happens first.

No bad teams to inherit. Look over our pool of potential keeper players and decide for yourself:
