What can anybody tell me about this 2008 25th rounder, besides the fact that he is killing the ball so far this season? I have the rights to all Dodger Minor Leaguers in my league and I want to know if the Dodgers and I have a diamond in the 25th round rough.

His power is legit. Just needs to do it now at the upper levels now and I think we got ourselves a legit guy.

The obvious issue here is the numbers he's putting up are in A-ball, and he's 22.5 years old. You can't fake big power though, and he's showing that. If he continues to rake in AA this year after a well-earned promotion, and doesn't have a poor BB/K rate, then I'd say he's a real nice prospect.

I just picked him up in my dynasty league, for my farm team. I live about 30 minutes from where he plays, and the buzz is pretty loud about him on the radio. My guess is he'll follow Dee Gordon's suite. Under the radar prospect starting the year, top prospect finishing the year.

Keep this in mind, Andrew Lambo was suspended 50 games for failing a drug test. Lambo was the top OF prospect for the Dodgers, now his season is pretty much shot and crushes his development and image a lot. If Sands can keep this up, I don't see why he can't be the #1 OF prospect for the Dodgers, and maybe get a cup of tee in AA ball this year? Oh, he had back-to-back player of the weeks to start the season, and already has a HR game to start this week.

Sands = legitimate sleeper prospect

There has to be a reason he's still in A ball. Is he a giant turd defensively?

Well, he was a very late pick, so maybe the Dodgers are just riding him a bit to see if he keeps it up.

Edit: Just reread that and realized it sounded kinda dirty. B)

It's a pitcher's league, the ballparks are sizable in the MWL. The weather has been mediocre, not really good hitting conditions.

He made BA's hot sheet this week. So he is no longer a relative unknown.

---------------------

Having spent the better part of the last month demolishing Midwest League pitching, it's probably safe to say Sands has nothing left to prove at that level, especially given his age. The 6-foot-4, 210-pound slugger has done it all in 34 games at Great Lakes—hit for average, hit for power, draw walks and even steal some bases. He's riding an eight-game hitting streak. He leads the league an almost every major category, including average (.387), homers (12), RBIs (29), hits (48), on-base percentage (.458), slugging (.798) and total bases (99).

15 homers. He has nothing left to prove here. Time to move him up

Is there any chance the Dodgers would include this guy or Dee Gordon in an Oswalt deal?

The Dodges do have the whole financial situation and the divorce still I think? I doubt they'd actually land Oswalt, but it's a possibility. Maybe Sands, Gordon, Ely, etc?

Sands has been promoted to Double A. He hit a HR in his first game. A dynasty league must have.

At his age, I'd like to see him in AAA before the season is out if he can handle AA pitching the way he made A ball pitchers look silly.

He's got legit pop. He'll move up lists quick if he proves AA isn't tough.

Thank god for this Jerry Sands guy.

Usually Dodgers always make noise with their minor league system, but this year it's been really quite.

This kid is pretty under the radar it seems. Love seeing his Stanton-like pace w/ HR's.
