Oscar Taveras - OF STL

what are his prospects this year? is the cardinals OF too crowded for him to make an impact?

I think it's more the Cards perceived philosophy for youngsters. I can't think of the last rookie they just let play without any prior MLB experience, or without sort of apprenticing for the job unless there was an obvious need and no better options. I can't see them throwing Taveras out there without a bunch of injuries, and only after he's totally healthy. It's possible (not likely) that he doesn't get any significant time this year if everything is working.

Or maybe the dude is just made of glass...

It appears Oscar Taveras slipped on a wet field today and appears to have re-aggravated his ankle. No, I am not making this up.

No legitimate source has said he re-aggravated his ankle, could be more to do with the hammy issue. But yes, I'm starting to agree with you. Just cut his right leg off and give him a prosthetic already.

Why the hell were they letting him play on a slippery/wet field anyways? Its minor league spring training, he should only be playing in perfect conditions, until he can finally shake feeling like he's injured all the time.

once he gets over his fear of playing baseball, i think he'll be in AAA til june.

honestly, its a crowded outfield and it would take a trade jay before oscar gets the call.

then there would be a healthy rotation of holliday, craig and oscar to make things work. just my point of view

I want to call this a step in the right direction but I get fearful every time he steps at all now.

They should just escort him to the batters box on a wheeler so he can bat.

Haha. the image of Hannibal Lecter in a straight jacket being pushed on the wheeler to talk to the Govenor just popped into my head

And....it's only 7 games into the season. Pretty sure that the .192 isn't worrying the Cardinals.

I was not insinuating his avg would be a problem if that's how you interpreted it. And nor was I insinuating piscotty's lack of power was a concern. Just stating the facts in a contrasting manner.

I don't want to be "that guy" but does anyone have an idea of when we should expect to see him in the majors? End of May maybe?

Unless there's a trade, I just don't see where he fits. He's not playing CF in the minors, they're not going to sit Craig or Holliday, and most likely not Adams. Plus, Jay/Bourjos.

I'm kind of feeling September; just my opinion of course

I don't think Jay/Bourjos are going to cut it all season. They could call him for the playoff run, or it could be sooner if Jay/Bourjos are struggling. Really is tough to call. The safe call is a late season call-up, though. I'm so ready to see him in a big league uniform, though. So sick of talking about him as a prospect and all these "what ifs."
