Only 1 more for $40 (leaguesafe) 12 team yahoo keeper 5x5 roto

Recommended Posts

I'm looking for 1 replacement owner in a 12 team yahoo 5x5 Roto keeper league. It is a competitive league. In fact, the two owners who left were the two weakest links in the league, so it is about to get even more competitive. If you just like to draft or you quit half way through the season because you're not in the top 3, please don't ask in. Details are below - if you would like to get in to this league which is an awesome league and will be for years to come, email me at

The draft date/time is currently set for Sat Mar 15 3:00pm PDT

Roster Positions: C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, IF, LF, CF, RF, OF, Util, SP, SP, RP, RP, P, P, P, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, DL

Batters Stat Categories: Runs ®, Home Runs (HR), Runs Batted In (RBI), Stolen Bases (SB), Batting Average (AVG)

Pitchers Stat Categories: Wins (W), Saves (SV), Strikeouts (K), Earned Run Average (ERA), (Walks + Hits)/ Innings Pitched (WHIP)

Buy in is paid through leaguesafe and is due 1 week before the draft takes place. Those that finish in the money are paid within a few days of the season ending. The other owners in the league can vouch for how smoothly it runs and that I am a trustworthy commish. The buy in is $40 and the pay outs are- 1st place = $240... 2nd place = $120... 3rd place = $80... 4th place = $40

The keeper rules are a little different, but are good rules that help keep the league competitive every year. As an example of what the turnover can be - the 10th place team year 1 finished 1st in year 2. The 1st place team year 1 finished 10th in year 2. The rules for keepers are as follows:

You can keep up to 7 players. Players drafted in the first 5 rounds last year are not eligible as keepers this year and players drafted in the first 5 rounds this year will not be eligible as keepers next year. Also, you can not "keep" a player if he needs to be kept in the top 5 rounds. This ensures most of the top players will be up for grabs every year in the draft and keeps the league more competitive on an every year basis by not letting any one team become too dominant.

The first year a player is eligible as a keeper, he must be kept in the round that he was drafted in (or a higher round) and each additional year after that he moves up five rounds. Example - PLAYER X is drafted in round 17 this year and was not already a keeper. Next year if you want to keep him, you would keep him as your round 17 pick because it is his first year of being keeper eligible. The following season if you (or someone else that picked him up as a FA or traded for him) wants to keep him, he would have to be drafted in round 12. The year after that, round 7. The year after that, he would be in round 2, BUT the top 5 rounds are off limits for keepers, so he's no longer one of your keepers. Make sense? This system rewards those who draft well, make good trades, FA pick ups, etc. Example - Trout was picked up as a FA in 2011, kept as a keeper in round 24 in 2012 and in 2013 was a keeper in round 19... This year will be in round 14... Amazing value.

Free agent acquisitions that were NOT drafted by anybody can be kept in any round you want. This is like a reward for making a good pick up. Example, if you pick up a guy that was NOT drafted and you want to keep him next season, you would be able to keep him in round 24 if you want to. FA acquisitions that WERE drafted have to be kept in the round they were drafted in unless they were someone's keeper and in that case they would have to be kept 5 rounds higher.

Here is the available team with the round each player could be kept in if you wanted to keep them:

Team A (3rd overall pick with no missing draft picks or extra draft picks):

A. De Aza - 8

Ian Desmond - 11

JJ Jardy - 18

C. Headley - 10

N. Markakis - 9

J. Morneau - 9

D. Nava - 24

J. Reddick - 19

B. Revere - 12

Alex Rios - 12

A.J. Burnett - 10

T. Cahill - 13

D. Fister - 7

Miguel Gonzalez - 24

J. Hellickson - 11

L. Lynn - 10

J. Niese - 17

S. Romo - 18

T. Scheppers - 24

J. Shields - 1

This is probably a middle of the road team going in to this year based on it's keepers. Some other teams don't have as good of keepers and some have better keepers and a couple of teams traded away some high draft picks in this year's draft which will hurt them, so if you have some skills - draft well, make the right FA pick ups as the season goes, make good trades, etc. you can compete this year. If you're hoping to find a team in a keeper league where you will for sure win first place with no effort then this league is not for you... If you have faith in your skills and want to try to build a great team for years to come and like a competitive league then contact me -
