Logan Forsythe 2015 Outlook

Recommended Posts

he's good. no one noticing this? multi position eligibility.

can he keep hitting?

nick franklin is back, but logan had a big weekend and cash said "Nick can play second base or shortstop and give some guys an extra day of rest," Cash said. "Logan's been outstanding, but at the same time, we have to be smart about the workload of some of these guys. Logan's a big part of what we're doing."

umm i know no one cares about this guy but.. he doesnt strike out much.. plays every day.. just hit a bomb today. bats over .300.. can play 1b 2b 3b. the guy has like no downside. should deff be owned more than 54% in cbs leagues.

He sure is doing his best Ben Zobrist impersonation. Playing all over the field (2B, 1B, 3B), and hitting pretty darn well. Good OBP%, good SLG%. Will probably play mostly at 1B now for the time being with Loney just landing on the DL. Had been hitting 5th in the Rays lineup for a while now, but hit clean up yesterday behind Longoria. He may also stay there for now again because of Loney hitting the DL.

Believe it or not, but his numbers match (actually slightly better) than what Longoria has put up so far this year. No, I'm not saying I expect it to continue all season long that way, but just using it to illustrate how productive he's been in the Rays lineup.

In 154 AB's

.299/.374/.487

46 - H

12 - 2B

1- 3B

5- HR

21 - RBI

16 - R

No downside?

The downside is he could revert back to what he has been the rest of his career... a .244 career hitter with no power leading up to this year.

He doesn't get much attention because that average is a little empty... only 16 R, 21 RBI, with 5 HR... it's ho hum... but he certainly is an option for MI leagues or deep leagues.

Well, he'll get plenty of playing time the upcoming weeks because Loney will be out for a while (4-6 weeks).

playing time has not been an issue for him .. hes always in the lineup.. Loney DL or not.

in terms of fantasy production he ranks 7th as a 2b... 7th as a 3b.. and 15th as a 1b. hes outproducing the likes of jose abreu.. beltre... longoria.. and is matching votto and freeman.

Decided to go with him as my 2B for now until Rendon returns. Solid year so far from Lo-Fo.

With full PT could see a 15/10 (HR/SB) season. Skills seem to support the breakout. Wouldn't be surprised to see the AVG regress a bit though.

Very surprised that he's still only owned in 19% of Yahoo leagues. He's having a really good season so far. He either bats 5th (vs righties) or 4th (vs lefties). He's been murdering lefties this season with a.980 OPS. He also only needs one more start at 3B to be eligible at 3B as well. That would be gravy for those in Yahoo daily leagues.

The fact that you can just plug him in at 2B limits his downside a lot.

Forsythe's plate discipline has really improved this year. He's currently rocking a 9.9% BB% and a 14.3% K%. That's really good. His ISO will probably go down some, since he's never really been a power hitting guy, but he's going to continue rocking a solid average and OBP barring some terrible BABIP fluctuation or collapse in plate discipline. He also plays pretty much every, which is awesome.

The 10th ranked 2B in Yahoo leagues and yet stil only owned in 21% of all Yahoo leagues. Ridiculous.

Add another HR to his total which means he now has 7 on the year, a new career high. It was also the game winning HR.

"Forsythe was 2 for 4 on Sunday. He has a robust .834 OPS so if you had the foresight to use Forsythe this year, you must be doing well."

It's nice to have his corner/middle infield flexibility. But can he really keep this up?

2/3 with a hr and 2 steals tonight and hitting 0.300. Ranked the #8 2nd baseman in ESPN. Any way he keeps this up?

A MI with this combination of power, speed and the ability to hit for average should be owned in much more leagues. He's been a waiver wire gem.

Sustainable rest of season? What about next year and going forward?

Who knows at this point? No one. Just ride the hot streak.

So is this guy any good? My guess is no, to me it just looks like he has always struggled vs RHP but this year is getting help from BABIP. Didnt realize he was having this good of a season though
