Let's try it this way.

Joey has four gold medals.

Tommy has five gold medals and two silver medals

Which is more impressive?

If we're doing it Olympic style. Brady has 5 golds, 2 silvers, 4 bronze. Montana has 4 golds, 0 silvers and what, 2 or 3 bronzes? I'm not sure how mant NFC title games he lost.

He lost two with the 49ers and one with the Chiefs. So three bronzes.

In 15 seasons, Montana made 7 league title games and won 4 SBs with 3 SB MVPs

In 17 seasons, Brady has made 11  league title games and won 5 SBs with 4 SB MVPs

Pretty clear who has been better...

Brady should honeslty have 3 rings, two were given to him.

Can easily argue he should have 7 rings, though (arguably 9 given the 06 and 15 title game losses)

You can't do that! You can only switch it around to make it look like Brady sucks!

No undefeated means a lot  more than losing multiple super bowls

Getting there and losing means more than not getting there at all. You're a Titans fan. This shouldn't be hard to understand.

Montana played against the bears great defense all pros all up & down that defense . Same goes for the giants all pros everywhere on that D . How bout the eagles awesome defenses back then , all pros everywhere !!! The redskins also !!! All won super bowls , except eagles . TOUGH teams to get thru !! What teams does brady have to go thru ?! Nowhere near the great defenses Joe went thru !! The real question should be how did he get it done vs such great defenses !!

So Johnny unitas and Otto Graham.have no place in an all time discussion?

Of course they do. They just aren't in my top 5. It gets tough because they are from such a different era.

I'd argue Montana is from a completely different era as well.

Last night I was thinking about where Graham and Unitas should be in a discussion of the greatest QBs of all time.   My conclusion?  I'm unqualified to assess those guys accurately as I'm not a student of football history like that.

Between the salary cap and the changes to rules to favor the passing game the football that Brady is playing is completely different from the football that I watched in the 80s and 90s.  Wide receivers and QBs used to get physically manhandled and abused.  It's a totally different game.

Having said all that,  I'd probably have Montana one and then Brady two but that's just me.   Wouldn't argue if someone had them reversed.

But Brady vs Manning?  That's not even a debate.

Brady faced two real good defenses in his career wich is 1-1 by the way. One of them he got beat in the AFC Title game. The other one was handed it out to him.

Its embarrasing putting Brady in Montanas legendary status, as to where ite also embarrasing comparing LeBron to Jordan.

Exposed as being a Brady homer.

So why is it valid comparing Montana and Brady since both played in different era's

No one will  ever pass Montana and Michael Jordan as GOATs of their sports. They dominated leagues in a competitive era.

In between 49ers first and last super bowls the average margin of victory was 20 points, 12 different teams took up the 28 possible spots. In between the Patriots first and last super bowls the average margin of victory was 9.5 points, 18 different teams took up the 32 possible spots. Not to mention the constant roster turn over and new teams in the playoffs every year. But yeah, let's talk about how competitive it was back then.
