Gio Gonzalez, SP OAK

News: The San Francisco Chronicle reports that the Oakland A's have called up pitching prospect Gio Gonzalez. The 22-year-old is expected to make his major league debut on Thursday in Toronto.

Analysis: Gonzalez is owned in 13 percent of leagues right now, despite the fact he hasn't made an appearance in the majors yet. That tells you what kind of prospect this kid is. Gonzalez is only 8-7 with 4.24 ERA in the minors this season, has been traded three times already, and can have control problems on occasion, so there are some question marks out there but he is worth adding in most AL-only formats as a nice second-half sleeper option.

Ricky Romero also got promoted to AAA, and he's actually been decent of late.

Here's his splits from July, while he was still in AA.

39.0 Innings

166 Batters Faces

9.0% BB/PA

13.3% K/PA

.282 BABIP

54% GB%

2.77 ERA

And there's also his Aug3 performance.

And here's his past 10 starts:

Date Level IP R ER H 2B HR SO BB
August 3 AAA 6.0	1 1 4 1	0 3 3
July 29 A 4.0 2 1 5 2	0	4	5
July 28 AA	4.0 1 1 4 1	0	3	4
July 23 AA	8.0 1 1 5 0	0	3	2
July 18 AA	7.0 2 1 5 3	0	4	2
July 13 AA	8.0 2 2 5 1	0	1	2
July 8 AA 6.0	3 3 7 1	1	6 4
July 2	AA	6.0 4 4 10 1	0	5 1
June 27 AA 6.0 1 1 7 1	0	4 2
June 17 AA 6.2 4 3 6 0	0	5 1

Definetly improvement, though the walks are still high.

Not sure, but Kila is on the roster for the royals in today's game against the yanks....At least according to CBS gamecenter, which only puts players available on it normally...May be a mistake, but if not SWEET

Conor Gillaspie got his first major league hit tonight. He was a 1st round pick (supplemental, I think) in the 2008 draft. Looks like the Giants had contractual obligations to give him a taste of the pros this year, since he pretty much went straight from Wake Forest to San Fran. A 3B by trade, his college numbers are very impressive...as was his hit tonight. He'll obviously be in the minors all season next year, but for those of us in deeper dynasties, he should be added to waivers by Yahoo! soon after tonight's 1st MLB hit (hopefully). Im sitting on the #1 waiver slot and I dont see anyone else of significance getting pulled up that hasnt already been drafted in our league. Hopefully San Fran gives him a few more ABs, so Yahoo! makes the add before the regular season ends.
