Giancarlo Stanton 2017 Outlook

Recommended Posts

Stanton needs to be healthy first and foremost. I could see him having a .260/.340/.535 batting line.

Giancarlo is rocking a new batting stance in the WBC. Love love love it.

I've never paid up for him due to streakiness, swing-and-miss, and injury concerns  but I really believe this is the year it all comes together.

This is the change in approach/stance that has been needed.

.263 -47-124   NL leader in slugging percentage

The exit velocity was 117+mph. Wow he hit the ball hard.

Well, with this guy performance has never been an issue with this guy. Always puts up .900-.950 OPS. The problem with him is his health. I prefer he doesn't try to change anything with his approach/stance. Highly doubt his stance has anything to do with his injuries.

I think the change will promote better consistency. The upside just got even higher

Why do you guys insist a healthy Stanton cannot produce in runs?

Projected over a full season:

2014 -- 99 runs

2015 -- 103 runs

No one expects him to play every game but this underscores that a healthy Stanton can still be productive in that category.

So let's gauge his value. What OF would you take right before Stanton, and which OF right after? Assuming a standard league.

Me personally....George Springer right before, Gregory Polanco right after.

George Springer and Yoenis Cespedes were both within a $1 of Giancarlo in my local league.

Any list where Avisail Garcia is fourth on should be taken with a grain of salt..

Also tells me that Garcia is a hand adjustment away from hitting bombs.  Right now he just kills gophers.

I would take Stanton over Cespedes. Where is Springer on that list? He and Stanton are very close for me.

Health is really the only thing to worry about with him. The bombs will be there, and he's hit much better at home then on the road in his career

He's gonna heat up and hit a ton soon. It's there, it's coming. Trust me on this

So, he just hit a bomb and stuff. Discuss.

The ball hung in the the air for almost seven seconds. I wish I was there to see it.
