2017 Middle Relievers Thread

Recommended Posts

Green may be done being yoyo'd from pen to rotation.  Erasmo too now that he's been demoted. Both of those guys are useful in RP role but get clocked as a SP.

Other random notes...

Luke Gregerson has fallen back into favor in Houston

check out Brandon Morrow

My eyes may have been playing tricks on me, but I think I saw Bruce Rondon in a high leverage situation yesterday

I wish the Reds would keep Ariel Hernandez up

Keynan Middleton may be the closer of the future in Anaheim, not Bedrosian

Betances leads all relievers in both K/9 and BB/9.

Don't think I've seen that before.

Carlos Marmol comes to mind.

Was just going to post about this guy. Has always been intriguing, at least to me, in the past as a starter but just Could never stay healthy. Hasn't allowed a run all year in 11.2 ip (knock on wood) with a 0.43 whip and 14/1 K/BB out of the pen. Don't know about if he sees high leverage situations or not but he's definitely worth a look!

So. Betances.

Injury? Drinking on the job?

any hot relievers right now?

including ones with SP/RP eligibility

For SP eligibility, Chad Green - nice young arm for the Yankees.

Others who probably aren't owned -  Buchter (Padres) and Rogers (Twins) for holds.

Juan Nicasio PIT got 3 holds and 1 save this week. Just picked him up. He is SP/RP eligible. Only owned in about 5% of espn leagues. Has a 2.5 ERA and 8 scoreless outings in a row.

This thread hasn't been bumped in a while.

Anyone have any touts?

Here's my contribution:

Downgrade Robertson. Yankees haven't generated many holds this year and it looks like Robertson is the 7th inning guy.

I'm thinking everyone in the Yankee's pen gets downgraded. Owning Betances in one league, the additions of Kahnle and Robertson hurt. More high-leverage arms to feed. Can't drop any of them though.

Boxberger continues to pitch well, despite his hiccup a few games ago. If he's still sitting there, wouldn't hurt to add him.

2 Holds.

6 K's

14.73 K/9

0.00 ERA

1.36 Whip  ( a little sloppy but getting the job done. )

agreed, he's been a boss.

the only concern i have with him is that there are a lot of mouths to feed in NYY, which means that holds may become more scarce. that's not a knock on him, but his situation.

What is Kahnle's role expected to be in New York? Will he still get enough innings to rack up the Ks while helping with ratios? They are loaded in their bullpen with Chapman, Robertson, Betances, Kahnle, Warren, and Green. Which ones become the odd men out? I doubt it is the first three.

Is Mychal Givens as good as he has been pitching? under 2 era and 1 whip and 7 wins...

Looking at picking him or Green up. Just for ratios and a possible win.

Haven't dug into the numbers but Brandon Morrow looks absolutely incredible. 100 MPH fastball with a filthy disgusting curveball

He's probably a top 10 reliever right now in baseball.

All of the elite guys are probably already owned but: Miller, Betances, Givens, Neshek, Devenski, Yates, Reed, J. Wilson, Kahnle, Madson.
