So...Claudio got a 2nd straight save for Texas. Now what? I mean, opportunity is half the battle. Numbers look solid. Not a ton of Ks, but doesn't walk anyone.  Maybe he runs with it.

What a job by Claudio tonight.

Wouldn't be surprised if Bannister just continues to go to him in the 9th (even when Kela returns) until he gives him a reason not to.

Claudio has an insane GB rate, so that's a plus for him.

He didn't start ninth tonight and came in for the lefty, Hosmer (though he stayed on for righty Perez).   My read is he's still situational, and with Kela looming I'm not sure I'd invest much.   But if desparate for saves and have a spot (and already have Kela) why not?  He'd be below Kela on my list, and I'm typically an 'opportunity' guy on saves.

I think he was situational before he entered the 9th tonight but performances like that can take you from situational to "interim closer" awfully quickly. Especially since he was great last night in the 9th as well.

Fun Alex Claudio facts.

guy has posted a sub 3.00 era all 4 years in MLB

he has a 86mph fastball and a 69mph changeup

the league has only attempted 1 stolen base on him...ever.  In 2014

What do you guys think is the likelihood that Justin Wilson and/or Kelvin Herrera get dealt?

Nearly 100% for Justin Wilson. Herrera I don't think gets dealt.

That bullpen needs more than those 2 guys. Britton would be a better option if you are really trying to fix the bullpen instead of putting a bandaid on it imho

Madson has better numbers more stable injury wise and more closing experience. You combine that with Dusty Baker managing and it's probably him.

Yeah....having dusty as a manager means we have no idea which one will get chances. Id bet on Doolittle.

I'd go the other guess, he's a little old school for the lefty cl

I didn't even think of that part. I do remember that he resisted Chapman for a little bit because of that.

I think it's Madson, unless he falters, Doolittle will be the lefty, lefty guy
