Eric Gordon 2017-2018 Season Outlook

Recommended Posts

What are your projections for Gordon with CP3 in town?  I get he is great in a Punt FG% team but any chance he raises his FG% with better looks?

His 3.3 three's from last year are really attractive.

He really fell off as the season progressed last year, so I'm staying away from him this year. He should probably still make around 3 3PM a game, but I'd rather target more efficient 3s (and obviously fewer than what EG gives you) than have EG mess up my FG%.

So last year Gordon averaged 16.2ppg, on 13.5 shots (8.8 3pa) , shooting 40.6%.  I simply can't see him getting that amount of shots, period, outside of an injury.

Let's say he takes two less shots a game, but maintains his 3pa/fga ratio of 65.2% of shots taken from behind the line.  So it's 11.5 shot attempts, including 7.5 3pa.  If he shoots the same percentage, it's 2.8 3pm this year instead of the 3.3 of last year.

3.3 is a z score around of like 2.1. That's easy top 10, maybe top 5 for a season.  2.8 is a z score of 1.5.  That's top 15-20ish, but a pretty big drop off if that's your only cat other than points.

And obviously points should go down, too.

All that said, I'm a fan as a sneaky pic because who ever even thinks about Eric Gordon anymore?  But if someone just sees his points and drafts him based upon "Good players score a lot" (and there's one of those guys in almost every draft), I don't want him.

I had planned to avoid him. With CP3 in town his role as bench PG would be diminished somewhat.

Through the first half of last season he was tied with Curry as the top option fro 3PM at like 4 per game.

This preseason he is 4.0 3PM over 4 games in only 25 minutes.

I look at him like a Tony Allen-style late pick single-cat specialist.  If I need 3s badly I may grab him end of draft.

Though it is true that with CP3 in town, his role as bench PG will be diminished, it is likely he gets a few better open looks with CP3 always finding the open man. I don't expect EG to raise his FG% too much, but I do think it's likely to be slightly higher this year. He's definitely a really nice add in a punt FG% build.

Watched the entire game tonight against GSW,    he looked really good . Call me crazy but I think with Paul on the team  Gordon will easily replicate numbers from last year.  Defences need to pay more attention to Paul than Beverley and that makes Gordon's life easier.

yep he scored all those points and none of them were 3 pointers, he was a savage when attacking the rim and had some nice finishes. If they can get a full season of this out of him it'll definitely boost the rockets

Let's talk some more about this guy attacking the rim tonight..

This team just got a lot more dangerous if Eric Gordon is taking people off the dribble...Tonight was a perfect example of tricking defenders into thinking he's launching a 3, and then coasting by them for a layup. He must've had at least 7-8 drives to the basket, 2-3 of which resulted in "and-1's".

I think he's got a definite shot at averaging 18.0 PPG + this season, especially if CP3 misses time with all his nagging injuries.

don't care what people say if this is overreaction but Gordon looks like the clipper pre injury version tonight! lol

1 game is too small of a sample size, but he did look very good. If he's going to be slashing to the basket like that all year, lookout!

He would have the same numbers as last year if CP3 is out, but if he is in then assists would drop. The moment CP3 or Harden went to the bench last night, the team was making a good run so I would imagine that D'Antoni will always want to have one of the 2 on the floor at all times.

He was taken earlier than I was expecting in one of my leagues. What a night it would’ve been if those 3s sank. Buy low window open very briefly.

My bold prediction coming into the year was that Gordon would be averaging 18.0 + PPG this season due to more open looks from CP3 and Harden..

So far hasn't really been CP3, but 24.5 PPG thus far (obviously unsustainable), can't really ask for much more. Looks great out there.

Legit shot to average 18.0 PPG, 2.0 RPG, 2.0 APG, and 3.5 3PM

Can yall do me a solid and get this dude PG eligible already.  Yahoo isn't acting and I think maybe they need more votes.  Can yall go over here and drop 3 votes on making him PG eligible.  It's not just wanting it, it's actually deserving it.  I have lots of sourced information and material there that you can read if you are unsure, but please drop 3 votes.

He's not available in a lot of league but if he is available in yours he needs to be added asap. Chris Paul probably benefits the most but Gordon will be a close second.

I expect him to have his best run of the season over the next 2 weeks. Owners should ride it out for a little and try to sell high soon after.
