Evaluating Pitchers for 2018

How about Jimmy Nelson? Could be a nice sleeper considering he could be out till ASB. Terrible head first slide cost him final 3 weeks of his season but man what a season it was for Jim. Also some sleepers I find interesting, Chad Kuhl PIT and Jake Junis KC.

I'm not expecting much, if anything, from Nelson next season. Torn labrums are bad news and have ruined many careers. The time table for a return could be up to a year and he may not be the same when he does came back.

In H2H he could be worth waiting for as a possible playoff savior, but in roto I'd probably take him off my draft list unless there's some really positive news between now and spring.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned this. Zimmerman over at FGs is charting spring velocities.

He adds:

I’m a little worried that the readings from Salt River Fields (Arizona and Colorado) may be a bit hot with Chad Bettis (+2.0), Kyle Hendricks (+2.2), Taijuan Walker (+2.4), Brandon Woodruff (+3.3), and Zach Davies (+2.3) all up over 2 mph. If it’s hot, Red flags need to be thrown for pitchers heading down just a bit like Zack Greinke (-0.7).

That Amir Garrett spike has me thinking the hip injury may have been a much bigger deal than thought last year, which has been mentioned by the team and the player. 95-97 from a LHP with a playable breaking ball and change up is something to note...
