New York Yankees 2018 Outlook

Fair enough. I liked when he threw the bat though.  You got a team deliberately throwing fasstballs at your knees while you stand there pretty much defenseless.  Awesome move by him.  And I've never been a fan of him really, but he's a great talent.  Also, Gleyber is not a better SS than him,  They're equally bad.  And its pretty pointless to say some bench player is better defensively than him.

Trading for Goldy is just not happening and it wouldn't make a ton of sense for the Yankees to trade a ton to get him for one year.  Doubt Scooter is moved but its pretty much the same situation..  If they trade it'll likely be for SP only.  There's enough out there in free agency.  They're no longer constrained by luxury tax implications.

if ur gonna sign a bat then why would u sign a 3b/SS when u have bats there instead of Harper, who is also left handed and kill fill an outfield need

I never ruled out Harper, but he'd be a terrible fit for LF.  Even.Stanton is a better LF than him.  Great hitter but not exactly a great fit with Judge so solid in RF.  You want to move Torres to SS where he's even worse defensively than he is at 2B.  So then who plays 2B?  Assume no Scooter.

Machado is an excellent defender at 3B.  Andujar is terrible defensively and far from a lock to be there for years to come.  We'll see what happens, but I can say confidently Yankees won't be trading for Goldy or Scooter.

Me personally don’t want the Yankees to trade for Goldy, or sign Machado or Harper.

We need pitching.....do not trade for Kershaw or Bumgarner.

No long deal contracts for pitchers..

I have a feeling we will be talking about Stanton’s contract like we did about ARod’s & Ellsbury’s.

Resign Britton & Happ. Sign Corbin & Morton.

They just picked the wrong guys that offseason.  Ellsbury and McCann were borth bad moves and overpays.  But Hal said McCann reminded him so much of Munson that he had to sign him.  I didn't like Beltran for 3-years either, when he was too old to play the OF.

They're going to add pitchers and hitters.  They will do their due diligence on Robbie Ray as well.

i love the trade for goldie idea.  i wouldnt hate a harper signing. but i REALLY dont want machado.  also agree on kershaw and bumgardner, i think their best is behind them.

also agree on corbin and happ.  dont agree on britton would rather resign robertson and go after andrew miller.  sabathia would also be in my picture.

No reason to add any of those high price hitters via FA unless the cost is cheap.

No to Ray ..

The Yankees don’t need a superstar at every position. It failed before and it will fail again.

I trust Britton more then Robertson.

I don’t think Miller can be trusted especially what happen last year.

CC will sign with another team.

Morton has been talking retirement rather than go through FA. One team that could change that is the Phillies whom he would like to pitch for.

Morton already announced he wants to pitch next year.

Morton is the sort of FA that should scare most teams. He's about to turn 35 and you can't count on him to stay healthy all year long. I wouldn't be surprised if he regresses once he leaves Houston. He won't be terrible but I don't think he'll be as good as he has been with the Astros. They know how to get the best out of their starting pichers.

I realize the Yankees need pitching but man, it's slim pickings. I even have my doubts when it comes to Corbin.

I think Happ + Corbin + Ray are the most likely for SP additions.

And if they don't add hitting you may see Shane Robinson as the fulltime LF....lul. They need to add hitters with losing Garder/McCutchen and Didi out until probably July. Hicks also appears injury-prone at this point.  Need better OF depth for sure.  Andujar's defense at 3B may not be tolerable for too long.  The IF defense would be horrendous with Voit, Torres and Andujar covering 3 of 4 spots.

yeah that's the thing about Andujar.  I picke dhim up last year and he was awesome in the second half.  But the Yankees might choose to replace him late with a defensive specialist and give him a few days off here and there, thereby costing him some plate appearances.

Maybe the Yankees will re-trade for Brandon Drury lol.  Jays certainly have enough infielders.
