Blake Bortles 2018 Outlook

Recommended Posts

I know that the past can be indicative of the future but like the above poster, bortles has more weapons than ever and the weapons are now another year more mature. His recent away games haven't been as bad (like rushing for 2 tds at Arizona or going bonkers against SF.) The division is also pretty week. Hopeful his value stabilizes this year.

Who do we like better Dalton or Bortles ROS?

Bortles at home and Dalton on the road would be my opinion.

Bortles will almost surely end up with more points end of season. But Dalton will be more consistent week-to-week in home/away games in my opinion.

Who watched the game last week?  Fournette is out again it looks like.  Did they let Bortles keep throwing out to keep the game out of reach?  I've seen highlights but am curious of the game flow.  Expect that kind of game again, or just a game manager?

I watched last week. My read was that the passing game was on fire, with Bortles making good decisions and looking at multiple reads. Since the passing game was working so well, the Jags stayed aggressive and stuck with that (versus playing it conservatively, which of course bit them vs the Pats in the AFC Championship last year).

Anyone giving him the start this week?

Saw a stat that said Bortles has averaged 24 fantasy points pg when Fournette is out.

Against a vulnerable KC defense that has only stopped Keenum.

Here are the games where Fournette has been out (including last week, where he didn't play much). Solid stats and against KC, I think he's a good start depending on your options (I'll be starting him in my 2QB league).

Week 04 2018 vs NYJ: 388 pass yards - 2 TD - 1 INT (28 rush yards)
Week 03 2018 vs TEN: 155 pass yards - 0 TD - 0 INT (27 rush yards)

Week 02 2018 vs NE: 377 pass yards - 4 TD - 1 INT (35 rush yards)

Week 14 2017 vs HOU: 326 pass yards - 3 TD - 0 INT (0 rush yards)

Week 08 2017 vs CIN: 259 pass yards - 1 TD - 0 INT (20 rush yards)

Week 07 2017 at IND: 330 pass yards - 1 TD - 0 INT (11 rush yards)

Definitely encouraging.

KC has been getting gashed so he may be worth starting over the likes of Russell Wilson, Stafford, Wentz, etc.

I think he's a good bye week fill-in and tournament play in DFS.

Jags D is amazing, but I'm a big believer in Mahomes and the Chiefs and think they're going to be able to score quite a bit and make this a game forcing the Jags to throw and add Fournette being out and he's a good bet.

You're a fool if you bench Stafford or Wentz this week for Bortles.

Was on track for another down week following his season trend until the garbage time hero showed up. He probably would have put up a dud if the Chiefs weren't blowing out the Jags much earlier in the game.

I want to point out the OLine is a wreck.  They were on their 3rd LT going into the game, their 2nd LG with their starter in a walking boot, and I believe someone on the right side is out or nursing an injury.  If you watched some of the game the left side of the line was where it was collapsing in on him early.  Not that he didn't have a bad game, but it was noticeable.  Some awful playcalls and drops early got them in a bigger hole than it should have been.  I expect him to bounce back this week.
