Yeah, but what does acclimated mean? Doesn't start and is eased into the game? Or barely plays more than a few snaps in the game. They are totally different.

I remember last year toward the end when one of the RBs would get the "nominal start" and then Burkhead/Lewis would essentially split snaps and leave White with hurry-up snaps

It means a random beat reporter decided to use that word.

Guy went from ~70 catches over four years to 105 in a single year.   That is the Patriots Way in many cases.  2013 is also the year I drafted him as my last pick and then dropped him before the season started.

Hmmm....gee wonder why that is.....oh yeah.....WES WELKER LEFT

FWIW, Mike Reiss is not a “random beat reporter”.  He is one of the most trusted and respected in the league and has been covering the pats for 20+ years.

For real. He's one of the more plugged in dudes.

I was asking a pretty basic question. Not sure why people need to give half a** sarcastic responses lol

Perhaps he cedes more work than usual to Jeremy Hill -- Sony Michel (knee) is questionable at best -- but it would be a surprise if Burkhead does not lead New England in carries Week 1. Even so, he is a riskier than normal FLEX play.

this is the interns opinion

You can't fit a set of #s to fit your situation as you see fit.

Julian Edelman was drafted out of college as a QB converted into a WR. Yes, he was a QB at Kent State.

James White meanwhile was a scat-back RB sharing the load with John Clay, Montee Ball, Melvin Gordon at Wisconsin.

You presented an Edelman data, but how is this even correlated to White's data? They are not of the same position, not drafted out of the same situations, etc.

Unless you can prove its correlation via an R^2 analysis... I can only conclude that You just dont like Burkhead (and it's okay not liking him as a pick)

Well, I'd challenge the fact that you can take any player data and conduct any sort of analysis and adequately come to some conclusion without making a million assumptions.  So, skipping the unnecessary analysis - that is out of my skill set, I am making a number of assumptions.  First and foremost, it is typically of the Patriots to draft offensive AND defensive players to only see them minimally play their first few years.  Listen to Caserio talk after drafts.  It's all about identifying key traits and plugging the players into the system and implementing the process.  After a few years, they come out a nice polished new toy for the Patriots to employ or they end up on the waiver wire - the Patriots' way.  Therefore, I don't really care what position they play or what their situation was out of college - if they are a player without much professional experience on the ins and outs of the NFL - they go through the Patriots Way System.  Edelman earned his MBA and honors.  From the sounds of it, White is earning his PhD and honors.  That's your correlation bud.

Secondly, I like Burkhead a lot as a football player and as a semi-decent fantasy play.

Sony is a year or so away I'm from dominating backfield touches.  Hill will only be relevant vs poor run defenses.  Game 1 is the James White show imo.

Sony can take over this year or next. It all just depends on his learning curve. The fact that NE drafted him with their 1st round pick tells me they're not shy from starting him this season.

Yeah, that would be the concern as Burkhead owners. Only one previous example of that — Maroney in 2006. He finished with 175 rushing attempts after Patriots selected him in the first round. He even had at least 12 rushes in the first five games

I wasn't being sarcastic. For example, here's a tweet from 20 hrs ago:

Not much additional insight there. Literally his only tweet about Burkhead for a week. My point being, when you read these summations (in the ESPN articles, not Rotoworld random dude), sometimes it's just complete conjecture and shouldn't be taken very seriously.

He’s been practicing for 3 weeks now and a high IQ veteran that knows the playbook inside and out. Why would he need to be eased in

Same system, same coaching staff, same environment. I'm not sure what other "acclimation" process he could be going through. I guess he could be referring to Burk getting into the daily grind of working with teammates in preparation for gameday, but he has been practicing for three weeks including being a full participant this week. Writer could have used the wrong term to say what he was thinking.

Nah bro.  Michel is going to replace Burkhead when Burkbutt's contract runs out and the Patriots are NOT going to sign him back for big time money.  Michel doesn't have those super sticky gloves like Neon Dion and White have.  Bro...you gotta catch up because the Patriots Way Train has left the building and if you don't catch up....hell...we are gonna go BB on your Burkbutt and send you to the waivers.

...yeah, because as a 1st Round pick they're already paying Michel a king's ransom.

Burkhead was fairly TD dependent last year and his role is totally unknown for this season. He's not the pass catching back, and Sony Michel was brought in as the far and away most talented rusher in the Patriots' rotation. Jeremy Hill is a short yardage specialist. Burkhead is closer to being the odd man out than breaking out as a star.
