I'm going with what Scoscia has shown in his usage (Middleton) vs what people speculate he might do.  Am I missing something there? It seemed like Johnson was available and he went with Middleton for the save yesterday.

Your reasoning makes complete sense. But we are dealing with a Sciociopath here so sense has got nothing to do with it.

Edit: I see Johnson was probably not available.  Thanks for the quote above.

The rotoworld blurb that was just posted indicated Johnson was likely not available yesterday.  He went 1.1 and threw 29 pitches the day prior.

Will be interesting to see if he's immediately placed into closer role. Guess it depends on Leone and Holland's work in the minors. Leone looked good in his only inning so far.

It’ll be Holland either first or second outing. And I’m a Leone owner.

Herrera answered his skeptics right out of the gate with 3 Ks around a single.  Cut right through the vaunted Tigers lineup.

Yeah STL didn't pay the guy 14mil to be a setup dude.

Probably gets one outing at most to get his feet wet, then he's closin'.

There goes the dream of Jordan Hicks stealing the closer's role with a cup of coffee :\

If Brad Hand loses his job in SD... who's closing?

Kirby Yates, and he's not losing his job unless he blows a lot more saves.

Holland's ETA:

Quote

Greg Holland is on track to join the Cardinals' bullpen next Monday.

Holland threw to hitters on Tuesday and will make minor league rehab appearances with Low-A Palm Beach on Thursday and Saturday. If both of those outings go well, he should get clearance to join up with the Cardinals and presumably take over as their primary closer. The 31-year-old right-hander signed a one-year, $14 million free agent contract with St. Louis on Opening Day.

For those who have seen Parker pitch this year (both ST and his 2 appearances), does he look off compared to last year? He had a great 2017 season, but his ST was pretty rough and his first two games this year don't look good on paper.

What are the thoughts on him? Is he going to work through this, or is looking at a rough season?

And apparently I'm gonna get about 2 innings and zero save ops from Leone in the week and a half I own him.

Anyone know why Rivero didn't close today for the Pirates?

Please don't tell me I need to go closer shopping. Did that last year and it was miserable. Already dropped Neris for Strickland.

He pitched in both games of the doubleheader yesterday, so he was unavailable today.

TY. Guess I didn't see he had stats from the 2nd game. Not sure why they chose to do that?

Are we considering Neris droppable at this point? I know what Kapler said, but still :(

Osuna may be the best reliever after the Jansen, Kimbrel, and Chapman group

he's already got almost a 100 saves at 23 years old
