My Dinner With Andre 5,689
I don't see much upside to this move for Roco. It's not like Roco is suddenly going to transform into this 20 pt scorer or, say, 4 assist guy, or 7 rebound guy. He is who he is, no? (prove me wrong Roco). But I see alot of downside risk, unfortunately.
THE_MAGIC_MAN 726
Thibs is going to send RoCo back to the d-league kidding, dont get mad at me
CFN 1,600
No need to worry, he was a low usage player anyway and should get a slight bump in counting stats playing under Thibs who will give him a career high in minutes played. He was already playing alongside tons of high usage guys in Philly. That’s not an issue. 5
bhkim814 910
Low usage player.. traded to team that will likely play him huge minutes. There's nothing to worry about

jjbooda 321
Covington was first team all defense. He is a hustle guy who is a 3 and D specialist Thibs will love this guy and he is going to get all the minutes he can handle. They traded for the now as they only got a second round pick in the haul. He is not a volume shooter and never will be so there is no disruption to the wolves and no downside there in fact he may get a few extra shots. The counting stats will also improve with 5 -6 extra minutes a game (37-38). Cant wait!

Pracis 68
Lord Covington needs time to find a new manor in the Minnesota land. Soon, he shall feast on the weak and bring stocks back aplenty! I would say that he plays Weds. I believe the trade was made official today.
kmoore1521 1,442
if you have any doubt you shouldnt even own him smh in no way is this going to hurt his value, yall need some anxiety pills or something theres like a 5% chance this hurts his value (insert jim carey "theres a chance" meme)

The worry comes from the fact that he has thrived since he gained prominence in philly (from D leaguer to nba starter) and owners arent sure if he will be trusted and liked on the wolves. I think its somewhat justified because different system, different teammates .. there will be adjustments to be made. I think he will be fine as well but who knows, especially with thibs who is known to make suspect decisions. Nothing to do anyway but wait and see...I would just say not to make drastic judgments based on the first 3 games or so. Let's see some games to see how the changes shake out. Alternatively if you want to try to own cov, it might be a good idea to throw out some feeler offers to an owner that maybe thinks his value isnt safe in minny? 4
BMartins 9
I dont understand the worries, finally they got a player to build around. The true building block, cuz Towns sucks, easy...

blazeh 215
Covington isn't some system player, he catch and shoots 3's and plays defense. Thibs will put him in immediately and he'll do what he always does, and he'll probably keep getting 30 mpg from day 1. Saric is probably the more important real life prospect piece, but Thibs probably envisions Covington as more important to Minny immediately competing this season.

Covington is at least as valuable, age is irrelevant. He's the best perimeter defender in the NBA and he hits 3s to boot.
DezedandConfused 2,574
He's also on a nice contract for the Wolves (4 yr 45 mil)

I love RoCo but this year he's not that great defensive player he can be, I know his stats looks awesome, but production IRL is not that awesome

You'd have to be some deluded Raptors homer to think Kawhi is a better perimeter defender than Covington is. It might be a different story in the playoffs, but Kawhi doesn't play lockdown defense in the regular season. You might as well be claiming that Lebron is the best perimeter defender in the league. 2
