Keeper:  Kept DJ, Kamara, Tyreek Hill.   All were cheap- 6th, 7th, 8th

-Traded out of first round instead of taking D Freeman.   Got a 2nd and 3rd round pick for the 1st and 7th, filled in all these receivers with my picks.

-Passed on Gronk for Diggs.  Regretted it when I later hated every avail RB and took Hogan and Anderson instead.  I wouldve been fine with those guys as my 3 and 4, plus Gronk.

-Missed Wentz by one pick, to a guy that already drafted Brady

-Really wanted Royce Freeman at pick 25, he went well before that, shockingly.

Results

Garoppolo, Mariota

DJ, Kamara, D Lewis, C Clement, Gore, CJA

Hill, Fitzgerald, Diggs, Hogan, R Anderson, Cole

Graham

Also spent a high pick on Jags D.  Had all starters in place by then and a few backups.   I had traded a lot of picks so i only had one in the last four rounds

I got some stupid RB value in a live draft last night.  The following is the pick I spent on the player, followed by their current ADP

Jordan Howard: 38     21

Joe Mixon: 47     22

Aaron Jones: 131    101

Carlos Hyde: 159     80

Favorite gripes:

"I hate this one player you took in the 4th round so your entire team must suck"       Nobody's gonna draft a team the exact same way you would've drafted it.

"Wow, your league must suck if you were able to get all those guys"   Just stop.  Most people play multiple leagues.  Sometimes one league is weak, live with it.

We do an auction keeper. I already had Diggs for $16, Goodwin $6, Engram $14, and Drake $6 heading into the draft.

i always blow my wad in the first round and wanted to sit back and wait a bit this year... didn’t happen.

Went after Julio with the 4th bid up and got him for $63 (prices are high due to cheap keepers and inflation. Lev went for $79). The draft keeps moving and a few picks later Tyreek Hill came up. I wanted him bad, he was part of my plan all day. I completely forgot I had just bid on Julio because I wasn’t targeting him and went after Hill aggressively. Got him for $45. As I was putting my sticker on the board I realized I needed an RB... not another WR. Accidentally went zero RB and spent less than $45 on all my RBs. My running backs ended up being Burkhead, Drake, Thompson, Coleman, Clement, and Conner. We’ll see how this season goes...

ALSO.

Some dude in our league was new to auction format and drafted only THREE wide receivers. Two of them were Alshon Jeffery and Marquise Lee. Hahahaha.

The fact that anyone let Hyde fall that late is mind boggling.  Including yourself.

You're right, but I think I can explain.  It's a 14 teamer, which makes it even more insane that Hyde is still there in the 12th.

I started with Melvin Gordon, Devante Adams, Jordan Howard, and Joe Mixon.  I didn't look at the RB position again until round 8.  I also wasn't using a cheat sheet.  I was totally winging it and going after the guys I had targeted in my head.

As we got to the end of the draft, I glanced over at my neighbor's cheat sheet, and absolutely could not believe that Hyde was still there.  RB was totally under valued in this draft for some reason.

I really needed another WR at this point, seeing as how I only have Adams, Goodwin, Mike Williams, and John Brown, but I couldn't pass up this value.  Used my last 2 picks on K and D.

You must play in a lot of free leagues, cause the goal in money leagues is to make money, not brag about how good the competition is

The only league I care about is a 3 keeper league, 11th year strong, same owners.  Kept Michael Thomas, Tyreek Hill and David Johnson (who blew my season last year).  We get together once a year and eat, drink, draft.  Well, I ended up getting pretty damn smashed.  And when I came around the next day, the team below is what I got.  I may have to start a precedent.

Wasn't the plan, but the way the draft shaped up I kept losing targets before I picked, and decided to not reach on guys I didn't like. I thought I could get Gronk or Howard in the 2nd and both were gone.  Wanted Collins in 4th and he went in the 3rd after my pick.  Freeman went top of the 4th.  Wilson went the pick before me. In person draft which makes it a bit different without rankings. In the 5th or so decided to keep taking WR and use it for trades hopefully.

Hopkins

AJ Green

Hilton (Gronk trade)

Baldwin

Sanders

Funchess

Benjamin

Watkins (Gronk trade)

Barber

Robby Anderson

Bilial Powell

Gio Bernard

Nykeim Hines (Gronk trade)

James Conner

Martavis Bryant

Panthers

Butker

Alex Smith

I ended up working out a trade for Gronk towards the end of the draft.  I had the Kelce owner as well, but he wasn't as willing to deal.  Both ended up with TE depth for some reason, perhaps it was to trade back with me.  Gronk/Graham (7th round) and Kelce/Engram (9th round).  Got Gronk for Hilton+Watkins+Hines.  Kelce owner wanted Green+Baldwin.  Gronk owner had Beckham/Crabtree/J. Ross/Lockett/M. Williams.  Hilton is instant starter and then he can flex in one of those other guys or Watkins who he really likes.  I think that was the catalyst for the trade when I took him honestly in the 8th.

Because of how heavy everyone went on RB, there were two that went RB the 1st 3 rounds; even teams that took a #1 RB might be weak with their #2.

The whole time they couldn't believe I'd keep taking WR which worked to my advantage.  I'd like an upgrade at RB, but after seeing the results in comparison to other teams in the league, I'd do it again.  I don't think I can pull it off next year as everyone will be expecting it. We start 2 WR/2RB/Flex so I'm still hoping to unload some of these guys.  If not, I won't have to play against any of them.

Current starting lineup

QB - Smith

RB - Barber, Powell, Bernard, Hines, Conner

WR - Hopkins, Green, Baldwin (Flex), Sanders, Funchess, Benjamin, Anderson, Bryant

TE - Gronk

Def - Panthers

K - Butker

If I can manage a solid RB for a pair of WR I'd be sitting pretty.   This is PPR as well.  If Powell can get me a few catches a week I will be fine.  Comparing to other teams, there are only 3 teams with 3 good WR.  Most have 2 decent starters.  An injury will hurt them.  I've had some interesting trade offers since the draft.  Most lowball awful stuff because they think I **NEED** a RB.  Stuff like Baldwin for Jamaal Williams (he has Zeke, Freeman, and Lynch too, but offered me Williams).  Baldwin+Green for Burkhead+Duke Johnson.  I'd happily trade any of the guys past Hopkins alone or in a package for a RB but something decent.  For example, one guy has Bell/Henry/Hyde/McCoy with a WR group of: Fitzgerald/Hurns/Nelson/Richardson/Parker.  I'd take pretty much start everyone other than Bryant over that group. Aside from Sanders and Bryant, I think I have the #1 on all the teams for receiving option.  Tried to float a Hyde for Funchess trade but he wanted Baldwin which seemed too steep for me; perhaps I am wrong.

Wow, I can't say I blame you for going so WE heavy, but you clearly need to upgrade RB (duh).

I'd package Funchess with Gio, Conner, or Hines, and get a reliable RB.
