He hasn't been "sucking" and is most definitely not a "fantasy bust". Sure, his start to the season was a bit rough, but his stats are nowhere near what they would need to be to qualify for either label. As much as I think these forums can be really helpful a lot, they can be really ridiculous at times too. People were taking him at pick 19-20, was too high at that point, but agree hes not a bust and hell raise his rank once his shots start falling.

StifleTower2 2,525
As a Jazz fan and as someone who recently traded for him I have mixed feelings. Last year Rubio really improved as a player, was a great distributor, and shot well when the defense slagged off on him. Then when the offense stagnated Mitchell would come in as our secret weapon and would obliterate the defense. That isn’t working this year because Mitchell has the ball in his hands most of the time and Rubio isn’t a great outside shooter so his value has been severely depressed. Teams are better prepared for Mitchell. Also, part of his advantage last year was his electrifying speed and energy. However, this year now that he has more of a workload, he’s not as much of a spark plug. On top of that he forces a lot which is to be expected from a young player. There are a lot of times when he forces a shot when Ingles (who is a much better outside shooter) or Gobert (who is much better inside five feet) is open. I’ve been pretty disappointed thus far. I thought the Jazz were going to win a statement game against the Warriors only to see Jerebko spook it. But the game wouldn’t have been that close were it not for the starters getting tired which I think is due to forcing too much. If Rubio went back to being the primary ball handler with Mitchell more of a pure scorer then I think things would be better. From a fantasy perspective Mitchell’s scoring and threes have been about as expected. His FG and To are actually better than I would think in watching the games. He seems to miss a lot of shots but maybe that’s me being too critical, bc his FG isn’t too bad, and if you take a lot of shots ofc you’ll miss some. For a guard I think anything above 45% is decent and he can be right there. I think you really want your guards to get 5+ APG and 1.2 SPG+ bc that’s just enough above league average to make up for your bigs. Mitchell is right there as well. I think he’s doing enough that once he gets settled down he will be top 40. I know a lot of people drafted him in the second round but imo that’s their bad. I don’t really like drafting points and 3 players that early and Mitchell barely does enough in assists and steals to be better than strictly a scoring specialist. But realistically where was he going to improve? He already maximized his scoring potential last year and he’s not really a good enough passer to drastically improve in that category. In order to be a borderline first round pick you really need to be an efficient multi-cat producer or be league leading in at least one category. Mitchell doesn’t produce enough in out-of-position categories to be a first or second round pick and although there are more inefficient players he’s not a net positive in the efficiency categories either. Maybe he can get a little more efficient with time but he may never be super efficient as that’s just the nature of volume based guards. The closest comp is probably Beal. That said I think he will still finish top 40 which is mildly disappointing for those who drafted him in the second round. But I don’t think he will cost you your season either the way a total bust or an injured player might so I don’t think you can call him a bust. I treated Bledsoe for him which is both a sell high and buy low and i think I would be trying to buy low rather than sell him right now. 1

He's shooting almost 45%, I doubt his FG% is going to get much better than this if at all. He's never been a pure shooter he's more of a scorer. Maybe he will prove me wrong but I've been saying since the off-season not to draft him anywhere near his ADP unless you're putting FG%. I really like him as a player though so I hope he does prove me wrong.

Looked painful but didnt look like a steph curry ankle turn by any means. I'm no expert though Edit: I'd be surprised if he plays the next game but I wouldnt say multiple weeks for sure, based on what I saw. But who knows. Shame as he just dodged a bullet with that hamstring injury too. Edited November 4, 2018 by cbsholy

KilloWertz 2,533
Based on his shooting since coming back, he should have stayed out. Happy for his owners that he's back playing though (traded him, but still have him for tonight).
