you dont mess with him, hes destroying it hitting in front of Manny, his rbis will go up when Tatis returns, and I think the Padres should put Urias 9th

this is what my lineup would be

Tatis-Reyes-Machado-Hosmer-Renfroe-Myers(Boog Powell), Hedges/Mejia, P, Urias

would also help protect Urias hitting in front of Tatis

Yes I like the Urias suggestion.  In this case that would make a lot of sense...

thats not what I was saying, clutch to me is late in close games

11 solo homers

3 with men on base

12 in the first 6 innings

3 in 7-8-9

his late/close line is 3/18 with 2 homers and hitting .167

as someone who has watched every inning of every Padre game, I have seen him struggle in these situations

Can we call him Fran-Solo?

He had some good swings last night and Zack G was balling but I was encouraged by his patience and I vote for Fran Solo.

I don’t know how it breaks down late in the game, but with RISP this year Franmil is hitting .290 in 31 AB with 3 HR and 14 RBI. He has a .918 OPS with RISP.

Innings 7-9 his avg is .156 with a .559 OPS and 48 wRC+. Also 3 HR in 47 PA. So there's something to @Golden Spikes observation. Pressing is a good hypothesis, and I trust the eyeball opinions around here until I see otherwise. Stat heads might say SSS statistical noise.

Another likely contributer: his late inning AB have been limited to when the Padres are behind, since coach is pulling him for defensive substitutions. So most of those ABs are in pressure conditions against top tier pitching. I wonder what league wide averages look like in late game, trailing situations.

So, in other words, he wouldn't have so many solo HRs if Tatis never got hurt...

On the bench today?

Well, he's not in the lineup, so I suppose he's sitting on the bench... 😉

Just giving him a day off from running on the turf because it's bad on his knees.  I'm actually serious.

Out of the lineup again with a DH in play. Did he lose his job and now mans the weakside of a platoon with Naylor?

Baylor is nails and helping them win with hitting and defense

I'm out. He's a one category performer, and that one category is devalued due to the power surge across the league this year. Negative in AVG/OBP, R, SB, and even RBI's are mediocre due to mainly hitting solo shots.

I agree with this. some might laugh and say that is stupid. he hits HRs and his RBI total is not even good for that many HRs. he will be a player who tallies most of his HRs in a few weeks span. in points leagues especially.
