What is up with this guy? Been a huge dissapointment thus far. should I be worried? Possibly looking at trading him for a SP1 but I don't think he is carrying the value needed.

He’s not carrying the exact batting average you want with 90% of the season yet to be played? Trade him.

The league has figured out that if you don't throw him fastballs, then he is only a moderately above average MLB hitter as opposed to a no-doubt Hall of Famer. The walk rate's still excellent but he's getting a crash course in hitting Major League breaking pitches and, truth be told, handling himself very admirably for a 20-year-old. This year was always going to be about him figuring out his approach when pitchers stopped throwing him fastballs to hammer.

Especially with Zimmerman's .616 OPS sitting on deck, he's getting nothing to hit.

They need to move him to 3 for a bit.  These at bats aren’t even competitive.  I will give him some leeway they have faced a lot of good pitchers early.  @Coors coming up should help.  But definitely a much different guy than last year.  There’s been some adjustments.  Hopefully doesn’t take long to adjust back.  Samardjiza tomorrow he’s been known to pipe some meat.  Hopefully Juan can get off the snide.

How dare you Pomeranz! Anyone see it live?  Open base with runners on 2nd/3rd.  Prime intentional plunking spot.

It wasn’t intentional, Soto seems fine. He was smiling with first base coach after. Dodged a bullet.

Wow this was Soto’s first HBP in his pro career

Nice at bats today.  Worked some deep counts, socked an oppo double for an rbi.  Nice schedule coming up.  Tomorrow has tough matchup against heart throb Caleb Smith, but after that gets Jose Urena and Trevor Richards who aren’t imposing by any stretch.  Then at Coors where he gets Chad Bettis who is a top 10 meat piper, Freeland and Marquez (tough matchup there).  So hopefully during this stretch here we get a few statistical stuffing games to enjoy.

This guy is lost at the plate. Useless

He can’t hit changeups.  He’s basically a fastball hitter only.  Sadly might have a lot of bumps in road this season.  Still going to hold out hope he can figure it out.  But this is looking like a league has clearly adjusted situation.  Now let’s hope he battles back.

Useless? That's an absurd statement. Start of his sophomore campaign for a 20 year old. This guy has multiple all-star appearances ahead. He's had trouble hitting lefties, and was set to face four of them this week.

Useless is a dumb word.  He’s struggling hard at pitch recognition and still has an .800 OPS.  So it’s not like it’s been a total disaster.  He’s just in an adjustment phase.

I hope some of my competition feels so strong a few weeks into the season on players....not just Soto but on many other slow starters I see things like "useless", "droppable" "bums"  "busts" way too much - it's just over the 1st 10% of the season....in fantasy football terms we are talking less than 1 game....baseball is a marathon....some players start fast...some hate the cold or need a few weeks to get in a groove....patience is essential but if owners feel Soto is useless Ill be there to scoop him up off a rage drop or with a low ball offer to steal him.....I think soto will be just fine when all is said and done...he's a baby in his career....no shock he's a little slow out of the gate and who knows he may have a dip from last yrs break out...but Im very confident he will be a contributing player throughout the year.

He's looked mediocre at best and his slash is still 241/381/418 with a 799 OPS.  As the weather warms so will he, just glad he didn't break his foot last night.

He's far more useful than this post...and I don't even own Soto. Just quit fantasy baseball if you're calling a 20yr old in his first full season "useless" because he's trying to learn to adjust to the pitchers' adjustments. Nevermind that despite his struggles, he's still on a 550 AB pace for .241-83-21-104-14. But yeah, he's useless.

You must be a former influencer, Soto is not bad at all, he may not be putting up HOF stats this year but being so young and so good he’s not getting any worse for at least 7;years.

His HR today was off a slider so there's that. Maybe progress.
