Damien Williams 2019 Outlook

Recommended Posts

I could be wrong but I think this guy is a trap.  I don't trust him and without Hill, I don't know what to expect with this KC offense.  Mahomes is lubed for a sophmore letdown.  And Williams needs that explosive passing game to succeed imo.

I think he will be adequate in PPR, but not at his ADP, which I'm sure will only rise

From fantasy pros “most undervalued” list:

“The fantasy community collectively expected Kansas City to either bring in a big-name free agent or spend a high draft pick to lead the Kansas City backfield. Instead, the Chiefs signed an underwhelming Carlos Hyde and waited until the 6th round to select their first running back, speaking volumes on how they view Damien Williams. Williams was not just ‘kinda productive’ at the end of 2018, he was a league winner. From weeks 14-16 (most league’s fantasy playoffs), he was the number three overall running back, compiling 74 PPR points. His excellence continued in Kansas City’s playoff games, making him a staple of winning DFS lineups. With Williams entering training camp seated comfortably atop the running back depth chart, I expect more of the same this season. It’s time to start believing in Damien Williams as an RB1 in 2019.”

Dont see the “sophomore letdown” coming.   Will he throw 50 tds again?  Maybe not.   But this guy is a legend in the making and there will be lots of tds to go around.

The problem I have with taking Damien in the second or third(where I expect he goes)...is that the KC running game seldom pans out how you expect.  Hyde isn’t the most explosive....but he’s versatile, good in protection, and reliable.  A definite upgrade to Spencer Ware (The PlodFather).

Damien will have to impress to keep a large snap share-  something I don’t have a lot of confidence in.

Interesting:

From fantasypros "5 Overvalued Players by ECR" list:

May 10, 2019

Damien Williams RB KC

“Williams is the most overrated player at this point of the offseason. Williams has had only five games with over 11 carries in his entire career, and was unable to beat out Kenyan Drake in Miami. The Chiefs saw fit to bring in additional competition in the form of the starter-ready Carlos Hyde, pocket rocket Darwin Thompson in the draft, and receiving specialist extraordinaire James Williams as an undrafted free agent. He will be facing competition from three superior talents at running back, including Hyde who has seen 170 carries in three consecutive seasons. Williams is a player I will be actively avoiding in all formats.”

maybe so, but i have no hesitation in calling damien williams one of the top two RBs named williams on the chiefs:

darrel williams, damien williams, james williams

on that, there should be no dispute. or little dispute. possibly more than a little.

cougar james williams vs. iowa state:

It's funny the site authored up two polar opposite opinion pieces, regarding the same player, within a 24hr period

Conclusion: it is up top to us, the reader, to discern what information is relative and/or useful, and to form our own opinions from said pertinent information...

There is only one PlodFather and his name is Matt Asiata.

The torch has been passed LV.   But we digress... Hyde is the best rb in KC.    Damien settles in to a nice 50/50 split-  which is fine-  could still be a PPR rb2.   They will need reliable targets out of the backfield.

Too many other options in the 2nd rd to take the risk on Damien. I would need more of a haircut to take him

Benny Snell is now in the league, let's not go tossing around the plodfather title loosely

What Damien did last season was impressive and Hyde is better than people give him credit for. I'm a little surprised they didn't spend more capital on a runningback but here we are. I think Hyde has a bigger share than people think but Damien is the best bet especially with his proficiency in the passing game.

Hyde kinda looked like the Plodfather last year.  3.35 ypc, not a single 100 yard rushing game despite having three games with 20+ carries.  And a whopping 10 receptions on the season!

people act as if Darwin  does not exist force a real competitive backfield and that the Chiefs could cut Hyde before final roster day. . . and maybe resign him later  😱

after his departure from rotoworld, axe elf crept off to build this:

i checked into it last season but didn't see you in any of the threads...

in fact, all of the posts in this community forum are from axe elf himself (the only one qualified?) (certified?) (certifiable?)

Without Hill,  won't a pass catching Rb be more valuable ?

i take it you weren't among the rotoworld users who axe elf tried to lure into his nightclub / emporium.

you have to give the guy credit for putting so much time into his competing site.

but you have to remove much of that credit: review some of the columns and player profiles to see how far off he was time and time again.

I dont get how he can put so much time into it and be so bad at it. I do respect the effort.
