2 days later....

can establish?  He already is.

The Indians team physician is named Dr. Chicken Dance?  Well, that's reassuring.  Maybe they'll get a second opinion from Dr. Macarena.   I'll see myself out.

If he was injured on april 9th and the timeline was 6-8 weeks.....that would be late may/early june.  So hes "well ahead" of that schedule and we MIGHT see him before the END of June....who writes these blurbs??

6-8 weeks from picking up a baseball, not returning. So yes that blurb is correct he is ahead of schedule

I still remember when they announced this as "upper back."  I immediately called bull**** on reddit and said it was probably rear shoulder (downvoted to oblivion ....).

Crap like that is why I no longer believe injury reports.  If a pitcher isn't pitching I assume he's done for the year until he's pitching again.

Manager Terry Francona said Clevinger (back) would complete two or three more bullpen sessions during the upcoming week before beginning a minor-league rehab assignment, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.

Clevinger has hit no snags thus far in his recovery from an upper-back strain, which he sustained in early April. Though his initial projected recovery timetable didn't call for him to resume throwing a baseball until late May, Clevinger has already advanced to mound work. After throwing 20 pitches in a bullpen session a few days earlier, Clevinger will presumably ratchet up the intensity of his subsequent sessions while incorporating his full arsenal. Assuming all goes well, the Indians will map out a rehab schedule that will put Clevinger on track to return from the 60-day injured list on or shortly after June 7, when he's first eligible for activation.

Pretty odd that he's tossing pens and ready for a rehab assignment when he can't even pick up a ball yet🤣😜

Indians' Mike Clevinger: Final bullpen session on tap

6 hrs ago | by RotoWire Staff

Manager Terry Francona said that Clevinger (back) will likely throw another bullpen session Friday before the Indians map out a rehab schedule for the right-hander, Ryan Lewis of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.

Clevinger has made tremendous progress in his recovery from an upper-back strain and should soon be ready to test himself against hitters, which marks the final phase of his rehab process. Francona joked that Clevinger probably feels ready to throw five innings in a game, but the Indians will almost certainly plan for a more conservative workload for his first rehab outing. The Indians have yet to pinpoint a target date for Clevinger's reinstatement from the 60-day injured list, but as things currently stand, he looks poised to return on or shortly after his June 7 eligibility date.

  • 2 weeks later...

Last Friday (5/24) the report was he was headed to extended spring training.

Hes first eligible to come back 6/7 but 3rd week of June seems like the most likely return if he gets 3-4 rehab starts

Clevinger (back) will throw a simulated game Saturday before embarking on a rehab assignment, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.

Spin: Clevinger is eligible to return from the 60-day injured list June 7 but will presumably be a few days behind that date even if he makes just one rehab start. A clearer timeline for his return should emerge over the weekend.

Don't bet on him getting more than 2 rehab starts.  Been keeping an eye on his rehab and progress since he picked the ball back up 3 weeks after he was shut down.

Good chance he only gets one rehab start and is back by June 10th or 11th.
