Jamison Crowder 2019 Outlook

Recommended Posts

Signs with the Jets. Remember that, when he was healthy last year, Albert Freaking Wilson was getting more targets than Stills and Parker combined. Gase loves forcing the ball to the slot at all costs.

Yep, couldn't have a more slot friendly coach.

Per a recent ESPN article: "there are two very meaningful concerns that might follow Crowder to New York. One is injury. Crowder has been bothered in two different seasons by nagging hamstring injuries. Last year, he suffered a high ankle sprain in Week 4, and missed two months of action. He had an 87-yard game against the Giants in Week 14, but most of that came on a 79-yard touchdown off a drag route with some sloppy tackling while his team was down 40-8 in the fourth quarter. 2018 was mostly a lost season.

The other issue is fumbling, and Crowder needs to fix it to become an efficient player. The 25-year-old has fumbled 12 times on 323 pro touches, which include 86 punt returns. That's one fumble every 26.9 touches, which is the highest rate in the league among players with 300 touches or more since 2015."

If he gets cleared to play before season starts I draft him.

If he doesn't, I avoid. That's that. I held this injured bum 2 years ago and won't bother to do it again this year.

It's health or not my problem.

Crowder will catch 90-100 balls in this offense this year

100 targets, yes. 100 catches? That's Diggs/Allen/Brown territory.

I wouldn't draft him with that expectation. 70-80 maybe.

I'm conservative with my expectations here. As a slot-receiver on a team with a very good "slot-friendly" offensive scheme, it makes sense crowder could get an unbelievable amount of targets in theory- but I don't think the target-share will be there. Bell will take up plenty of short-route targets; Herndon when he returns should receive short passes, RZ targets, etc. Anderson will be the x receiver. Enunwa could receive plenty of targets as well. I did pick up crowder off the F.A. but he's sitting on my bench for quite a while.

Am I missing something?

If he gets to 70 catches I'd be slightly surprised.   I never like the idea of getting a secondary receiver on an offense that's not particularly strong.   There's a bellcow RB here who should catch at least 60, plus a clear number one receiver.   The rest just get scraps on teams like that.  Crowder's your best of the rest, I guess.

Is Robby Anderson a true number one receiver though? He seems to be a good deep ball threat but I wouldn’t consider him the man there.

That's fair.  I just see him as a better player than anyone else, so I would be surprised if he wasn't that guy.   However, its not set in stone, he's not Mike Thomas or anything

In standard league, it's an add?

So many targets all the season?

How do people feel after DT has been traded to Jets?

Seems like both play the same role, no deep threat.

Crowder is a slot BEAST - not concerned at all ... think it says more about Robby and Quincy and co

IMO:  Nothing is going to take away from Crowder's role except Chris Herndon coming back.

If DT is going to play it will cut into Anderson, Enunwa or Bellamy.
