I was really asking. Hopefully there will be a report about how the Rams plan to use Ramsey in this game. He rarely ever sees snaps as a slot corner, but teams rarely have their best WR playing in the slot. Ramsay is also on a new team, so who knows.

This is the difference between Boyd being a volume based WR2, and being a complete avoid.

I haven't watched enough of the Bungals games. What % does Boyd line up in the slot?  I thought he was doing mostly wideout with AJG being out.  I would appreciate any info on this.

Almost exclusively in the slot and routes in the middle of the field, hence why so many Dalton interceptions when targeting him.

He's worth a claim for sure. But even if not, get him as a free agent on Saturday or whatever. You can't ignore the targets and he'd be a very good matchup play against soft secondaries with good offenses. Oakland, Miami, Cleveland x2 are all matchups where he would be a high WR3/Flex with WR1 upside given his volume alone.

He's a frustrating dude, to say the least. You'd think with his volume he'd be pretty consistent in PPR, but not even that's the case. He's pretty volatile for his target-share. I wish I could watch the games to see what's going on. He should be matchup proof out of the slot. Last game I heard he had some bad drops. But other than that I don't know if Dalton's just been off target or what? He's the #1 WR and playing slot and he's about as volatile as Mike Evans and that's scary. I'd expect it from a deep threat, but not in Boyd's role. I'll go one step further and add Woods here. At least he has other competition like Kupp and Cooks. So, I can understand why he's down this year, but Boyd's inconsistency makes no sense.

The main issue here is the offensive line is probably one of the worst if not the worst in football. Dalton is constantly rushed and is having a hard time throwing accurately to Boyd. Teams are now actively trying to take Boyd out of the game allowing Dalton to throw to guys like Tate and Erickson. Boyd would probably be a much more efficient receiver if he still had Ross as a threat to take the top off a defense or having an all pro WR like Green drawing the other teams top corner. As of now non of that exist. He's a borderline WR2 in PPR and 3 in standard.

This is always how its been with Dalton throwing to AJG.  Frustrating at times when Dalton can't hit the broad side of a barn.  Many times AJG was open but Dalton was late to throw or just would sail the ball out of bounds. Then some games AJG would absolutely blow up.  Nature of the beast with this offense.

As for the person not picking up Boyd, he is averaging over 10 targets per game.  How can you not pick him up, he's gotta be better than the worst player you are rostering?

BOYD is 3rd in the league in targets.....

I was so high on Boyd just a few weeks ago but after watching the Bengals offense the past couple of weeks, he's staying on my bench. Dalton looks absolutely terrible and that offensive line is complete trash.

To be fair Boyd hasn't looked great either. This whole offense looks like s---. Their run game has to be close to the bottom in yards and points scored.

I saw one source say that Jalen Ramsey should be shadowing Boyd..which typically doesn’t happen with elite corners and WRs who play out of the slot.  Has Ramsey done this in the past?

Unlikely he shadows Boyd, or any slot receiver, as he traditionally stays on the outside - he's only spent 10+ snaps covering the slot in a game only once in 2 seasons - and Wade Phillips also doesn't deploy his top CBs to provide shadow coverage in the slot.  He'll most likely be covered Roby-Coleman for a good chunk of the snaps.

I wanna bench him but cant bring myself to do it. Damnit.

I'd also prefer to sit him, but I don't have a better option.

Yeah, I can't find a definitive answer to this, but: 1). Robey-Coleman is a slot corner specialist. 2). Ramsey wasn't asked to follow players to the slot in Jacksonville 3). The Bengals run 3 WR sets about 90% of the time.

Anything is possible, but it seems most likely that Ramsey stays outside, and NRC stays on Boyd in the slot for most of the game.

It won't be pretty to watch, but Boyd probably ends up salvaging a 7/80 week, on a dozen targets, with an outside chance at a TD, in what will probably be a 35-13 final score.

This guy is too good for me to let go, but I've looked at three of four weeks that were just bad. And since there are no points for targets...ūüí©

PM me if you unloaded this guy and what you got in return.

Rams i believe might be the worst defense at covering slot WR's. It's almost certain they will use Ramsey on Boyd.

Just curious what you’re basing this on?   Since Ramsey has covered the slot primarily in one game one time in 2 years, and Phillips has yet to deploy his top CBs to shadow slot guys yet in his tenure as DC.

Yeah...I agree.  I don't think they look at Boyd as some kind of game changing WR that Phillips would change his MO over.

They also have Robey-Coleman who's a slot specialist. I don't think they'd force him to play outside, or bench him, because of Boyd.

Exactly.  The only chance of Ramsey being on Boyd is if they line him up on the outside on a play for no reason.

Anybody have the info on what % Boyd lines up outside vs slot?

56% of his snaps from the slot on the year. I'd be surprised if he's not there more than that in this game.
