Keston Hiura 2019 Outlook

.241 with 1 homer and 20 strikeouts in 54 at-bats against lefties.

Vlad is batting .206 with 3 hrs in 102 abs vs lefties.  People unfortunately don't look at the underlying stats very much anymore.  Hiura's K rate has been pretty bad even when he was scorching hot, now the same thing with Aquino.  Guys with a k rate like that are going to have HUGE swings between good and bad play.

It's only 54 ABs and he's a right hander. Not really enough to make any inference/judgement

Yes, but in a mere 6 ABs the k rate will stabilize because that’s 60 and hence be used a yardstick for the remainder of his career 😜

There is something gratifying about watching the Brewers struggle to make the playoffs when they kept Hiura in the minors for a month, played Travis Shaw, all to save some money five years from now.

don't think keeping hiura down is the reason they wont make playoffs.

the games they lost while he was in the minors will most definitely play a part. obviously you can't assume he would have turned all of the losses into wins, but even a couple of losses turned into wins would be make big difference right now.

.306/.375/.577, 15 HR in 65 games.

Is that good for a rookie?

162 game average-

How are you treating this guy in dynasty??  2b is a shallow position.

I see him settling around top 30-40 going into next season and could very easily be the #1 2B by mid season.  As a dynasty owner of him I’m not sure I’d take any other 2B for him right now to be honest.  Gleybars the only one I think should be ranked above him, but if Hiura keeps stealing bases his ceiling is definitely higher.

Is it really that shallow? Season-long, Yahoo has 12 2B ranked in the top 62 overall, nine of which will be 2B-eligible next season.

I wonder how much position scarcity affects yahoo rankings.  If it does, that might explain the high number of players in what’s a shallow position.  You have to figure the loss of eligibility by some of the big dogs (Baez?, joram?] the decline of others( whit, and sadly possibly altuve) and the fact that some are having what’s probably a complete outlier (lemahieu) 2b will be completely overturned.   Given that there arent many studs and there looks to be a pretty big drop after the second tier, it’s possible that position scarcity drafters will gobble these guys up fast.  Hiura could arguably, actually be #1 on some lists, and likely top 5 on most.  He won’t last long at all.  Top 50 is a possibility, i personally put him just a smidge lower than what backyardbaseball said.

I've got 9 in the top 65 for 6x6. Not sure how many will lose eligiblity.

From cbs

Hiura (hamstring) will travel back to Milwaukee for further examination, Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

After exiting Friday's series opener against the Cubs with hamstring discomfort, Hiura will have his injury examined by team doctor William Raasch in Milwaukee. The Brewers are expected to make a roster move Saturday with both Hiura and Moustakas (wrist) nursing injuries.

Hiura exited Friday's game against the Cubs with a hamstring injury, and after further evaluation it was determined that the second baseman is dealing with a Grade 2 strain, which will keep him sidelined for at least the next two weeks, per Adam McCalvy of MLB.com.

Hmmm so playoffs start in 2 weeks.

Newman sounds like a logical replacement if he's still available on your WW

I’m hoping the Royals activate Mondesi tomorrow, as has been suggested. 🤞

10-day DL.  Season could possibly be over.

They won't usually IL players anymore this season starting tomorrow Sept 1st since it is call-up day and rosters expand.
