What an epic L.

It's always funny that the people who complain about Lebron James whining are always projecting.

Probably the musings of a LBJ Lover. 😂

This is so accurate for so many posters here.

I like the idea of "let's see what happens next year". Doesn't really matter. Lakers won.  Will they win next year? Who knows. Maybe.  They are obviously one of the top teams assuming AD/Lebron are there, just like they were this year (in Lebron's 17th year)

That's funny to me too. Already got people trying to discredit this year's run and say, let's see what happens next year. We could win next year then they'll say oh well back to back is easy, let's see if they're Kobe-Shaq level great and go back to back to back. It's always something we these guys. I've said it before, why can't people just enjoy LeBron's run why he's here? He might not have much time left, enjoy greatness why we have it because these guys only come around once every generation.

I'm fine with this Lebron ring counting as 0 and the 2016 one counting as 5.  He's at 8 now then! Let's just make up the rules when we don't like them.

Here's my two cents on everything regarding LBJ, AD and the Lakers this season.

For those saying "shoutout to all the haters who said we couldn't do it"...From many peoples' standpoints, it didn't come from a "you couldn't do it" standpoint, it was from a "nobody want's you to do it" mindset. Laker fans are some of the most bias fans, (if not the most bias'd basketball fans in the entire league). And that's part of the reason why a good portion of the NBA fan population hate the Los Angeles Lakers franchise in general...Aside from the fact that they are a "big-market" team like the Yankees, and their answer to everything is to "buy and sell" players.

But getting off that topic and onto the actual playoffs...

This was single-handedly one of the easiest Finals runs in NBA history...And any Laker fan, or heck, NBA fan, saying that it wasn't is clearly misguided and/or biased. And it's one of the reasons why LBJ (in my opinion), will never topple MJ in the "Great Debate" over who is the GOAT.

Let's start from scratch.

LAL go out and get Anthony Davis. And they give up practically every one of their top draft picks from the previous 3 years except Kuzma. People say "aghhhh the lakers gave up too much...Wahhhhhhhh".....No they didnt. They went out, gave up Lonzo Ball (who the heck cares), Josh Hart (again, who cares), and Brandon Ingram (nice piece, but was totally unproven at that standpoint) and the draft picks...But what did they get in return?

There are 4 players in the NBA that I would categorize as "otherworldly", and are essentially just "cheat codes" in the NBA.

  • LeBron James
  • Giannis
  • Kevin Durant (when healthy)
  • Anthony Davis

And what do all 4 of these players have in common? They are all 6'9 or taller, and are players who defy the laws of nature. Players who either have some kind of abnormal body type, whether super lengthy, super strong, super gifted as shooters, or sometimes, all of the above. They are players who if you looked at them height-wise, you'd say "ok, this guy is a PF, or he's a C)...And yet they all can play multiple positions, including PG.

So what did the Lakers do? They already had the best player in the NBA, (and in that group of cheat codes)...and they went out and got arguably the 2nd-best "cheat code" player in the NBA. Really, the only thing the Lakers had to worry about is injury...

So you've got the Lakers. They have cheat code players in LeBron (who is arguably playing his best basketball....in his 18th season in the league, not even including playoff runs) and Anthony Davis, a guy who can shoot from anywhere on the floor, can run the floor like a PG, who can block shots and play defense like a shot-blocking center...

Really...All the lakers had to do after that was find pieces. And all they had to do was find cheap pieces. And they did.

  • Playoff Rondo - guy doesn't do anything during the regular season, but then decides to start playing when it matters..
  • Danny Green - you can hate all you want, but the dudes won championships on 3 different teams and you were happy when the lakers got him.
  • Avery Bradley - lockdown defender who didn't even play in the bubble...had he played, the Lakers probably would've swept everyone.
  • Dwight Howard - another "ex all-star", who...all LBJ had to do, was turn him into a rim protector and an "alley-oop" specialist.

And that's all you needed...Couple in the fact that Kentavious Caldwell-Pope suddenly decided he was going to play well. No 1 in their right minds thought that the Lakers were going to lose during the playoffs. Really the only possible speed bump would've been the Clippers...but we all know how that went.

This was by far, one of the easiest final runs ever. And the fact that the Heat, who lost 2 of their Top 3 players for multiple games....actually came out and beat the Lakers not once, but twice, with the core of Jimmy Butler, Jae Crowder, Andre Iguodala, and two rookies....

Now on to the LeBron vs Jordan debate...

For me, it's not even close... LBJ will never be greater than Michael. And the evidence is simple:

1. LeBron James has never, ever, won a championship by himself, or...at the very minimum, won a championship by himself with "home-grown talent"...Whether you're a LBJ hater or lover...LBJ has needed someone every time to help him win a ship...From his "I'm taking my talents to South Beach with Wade and Bosh", to "heading back home" to Cleveland, but with Kyrie (who never would've been on the Cavs had LeBron never left) and Kevin Love...Now to the Lakers and him having to get Anthony Davis...the guy has never done it by himself...I think of teams like the Mavericks, who came into MIA with Dirk Nowitzki and a bunch of aging veterans in Jason Kidd, Jason Terry, DeShawn Stevenson, Tyson Chandler, and Shawn Marion....And stuck it to LBJ and his "super-team". That's how you become one of the greats. You defy odds. You can ask yourself, "in the last 10 years, aside from his first season in LAL, when has LeBron James been not favored to win the ship or at least make it to the finals?" Not once. And that reason alone is the reason he will never supplant MJ as the greatest of all-time.

2. LeBron James is the biggest whiner of all time...Have you ever watched a Laker game? Or a Heat game when he was there? or a Cavs game?....The guy bitches and complains about everythingggggggg. I wish I could just do a Finals video of him complaining...It would probably be longer than a highlights clip of him scoring. Every time he misses a shot near the basket, he's complaining. Any time someone else on his team takes a contested shot, he's complaining. Any time he bulldozes someone and gets called for a charge, he's complaining. If the ref says the ball hit off of LBJ's foot, he's complaining. If the ball isn't pumped up correctly....you guessed it....he's complaining. I've NEVER seen a player with such star-power, complain as much as LBJ complains. It's like nothing he does is wrong. He's apparently never committed a foul in his life, nor has any of his teammates. The ball is never out on him, it was out on the player at half court. Do you remember MJ crying every play? Let's even compare him to present-day NBA. Do you see Kawhi Leonard or Kevin Durant crying about every play?

3. LeBron James makes himself hateable...whether he does it willingly or unknowingly. From his flopping days while on the Heat...or him getting elbowed by Tristan Thompson and trying to sell it as if he got hit by an opposing player...to him always having to "team up" with someone....Michael didn't go to Charles Barkley or Karl Malone and say "hey...let's team up". One additional reason as to why I believe so many people hate LeBron James, despite his greatness....The guy acts as if he's above everyone else. He's cocky, sells his teammates who he finds worthless down the river, shady behind-the-scenes, cries during every single game....

LBJ literally flexes every time he scores on a smaller player...He gets mad, puts on his "I'm going to act like I'm pissed off" face...scores on a 6'2 180 lb guy like Tyler Herro...and then FLEXES, as if he just dunked on someone who was two times the size of him...Did you really just FLEX on a 6'2 180 lb twig because he nicked your arm while you went up for a layup in transition? It's like...dude...you're a human cheat code...like who else has your body type? 6'9...260 lbs of pure muscle...you look like the "final boss" at the end of a video game. And you're FLEXIN on a guy who's almost 100 lbs lighter than you?

So that was more like 5 cents...or maybe a whole dollar...

For the record, I am not discrediting anything LeBron has done from a "basketball IQ" or talent perspective. LeBron James, in my opinion, will go down as the 2nd best player in NBA history. He's uber-talented. He's gifted. He's smart. But for me...the reasons above are the reasons why I believe he will never leap Jordan in that conversation. And I'm from LeBron's generation, not Michael's. There are too many personality traits that people deem negative for him to jump MJ.

Los Angeles Lakers fans, enjoy the ship. It was an extremely easy road, whether you want to admit it or not. Next year will tell us a lot...With the Clippers, a healthy Warriors team, and many off-season trades likely to happen.

Your reasons for why you pick MJ over Bron as the GOAT are weak as hell man. I'm not here to debate who's better, I'm just pointing out your reasons are awful. Your first reason is Bron always needs help and has never won a chip by himself. But did MJ? Last time I checked all 6 of his rings featured Scottie Pippen, a top 25ish player of all time who was also one of the greatest defensive players of all time. Pippen created offense for those Bulls teams and was ahead of his time as a point forward. No help eh? That sounds like one of the best #2s ever. His runs also featured Dennis Rodman, also one of the best defensive players ever and a top 3-5 rebounder ever. Tony Kukoc, who averaged 13 a game during the Bulls 2nd 3-peat. Nothing crazy but nothing worth dismissing as a key role player. Steve Kerr, one of the best 3 point shooters of all time, a winner who was also a great role player. Horace Grant, a big time piece of the 1st Bulls 3-peat. Phil Jackson, the GOAT head coach. Paxon hit the series clincher for them against Phoenix too. But MJ had no help, huh? Please.

You cite LeBron whining as your 2nd reason. Just curious, what does whining have to do with talent? What does whining have to do with his accomplishments? Why would whining diminish LeBron's case as the GOAT? You just don't like him. Newsflash, MJ complained to the refs, just like all the other stars through time have. Then you cherry pick current players to try and make your reason more solid but unfortunately you picked the wrong guy in KD.

Third, whether you hate or love him, you can't use that as a reason to say a player isn't the GOAT. Your opinion doesn't reflect the opinions of a billion others. I know you hate him but his accomplishments will stand the test of time and he will be remembered as the greatest of this generation easily, and possibly the best of all time.

You gave two "reasons" which was really your OPINIONS and have no weight in a GOAT conversation. Your first reason is a commonly cited reason which is simply untrue. I have my own personal beliefs and opinions and I won't get into it here but if you're gonna debate who the GOAT is, at least come with some real material.

When someone is whining about people actually flexing in their goat arguments....time to disregard.  It's clear there's a non rational bias there.

Tell me this wouldn't happen.  Assuming Jordan never did it first.  Lebron makes 5+ threes in a game and shrugs on one of them after making it.  The next day Skip Bayless and people who think like him.... "Lebron is such a bad shooter, just had lucky night. Even he couldn't believe he could make that many threes! Jordan had confidence! He always knew they'd go in and acted like he'd been there before. Cerebral!"

And to add to my post above regarding your "easy road" comment, numerous current and ex players have already came out and said this is one of the hardest championships that could ever be won. We played who was in front of us, it's not our fault the Flippers turned out to be frauds or the Bucks choked because Giannis isn't at that truly elite level yet (remember when he was the best player in the world a few months ago? Funny stuff). I just think it's funny who fast people flip flop their position. First, it was the Blazers were the best 8th seed ever. Then it was this Houston team is gonna give the Lakers major problems and PJ Tucker is the AD stopper (LMAO!). Then Denver beat the Flippers and we didn't have an answer for Murray and Jokic. Miami got hurt and that's unfortunate, but we didn't cause the injuries, we just played who was in front of us. That's our fault? Living inside a bubble for 3 months with very little friends/family, no fans, and all the challenges that would present to a person qualifies as the easiest road ever? You're a hater, plain and simple.

For LBJ vs MJ debate, it's MJ for me.

Dallas in 2011 and Spurs in 2014 are the reasons.  Zach Lowe explained it here:

The reactions of Pippen and McGrady are telling. They can barely express how preposterous they find the question. Pippen smiles, sighs, and tells McGrady to answer first. They nominate players they would trust more than LeBron with the game on the line: Reggie Miller, Paul Pierce, Kobe Bryant, Joe Johnson.”

imagine trusting joe Johnson, Reggie, or Pierce over Lebron 😂🤣🤡

Sadly your lebron and Laker credibility died. You have a bias against him/them and it was proven wrong this year.

1. No player has won a NBA championship by himself. Dirk and a bunch of aging veterans? Jason Kidd is a Hall of Famer, Jason Terry was 6th man of the year the year before and was runner up for many years. Tyson Chandler was only 28 and was arguably one of the best rim protectors during that time. Caron averaged 15+ points that season and Marion was the glue guy. Then you add Brewer/Stevenson who were comparable to KCP and Green as 3 and D guys. Do you also discount the Warriors championships with Durant? What about last year's finals where the Raptors won when the Warriors were missing both Durant and Klay, was their championship worth any less?

2. It's the NBA every player complains after every foul call, it's never their fault. Just go down the list of every team and their stars, they all complain and yes "star" treatment exists in all sports.

3. All players have their signature poses after a made dunk or 3 point made (like Wes Mathews stupid bow, Melo's 3 shot to the head) At the end of the day major sports are an entertainment, do you want players to have no emotions? You want it to be like baseball?

Tyler Herro GIF - Tyler Herro Miamiheat GIFs

It's funny how people are discrediting the Lakers when the Raptors just a season ago won a team without KD/Klay. With the Clippers? Their a** got beat by the Nuggets who the Lakers beat in 5 games, why are we discrediting the Lakers and not putting more blame on the s---y play of the Clippers(Playoff P). Also discrediting the Heat who beat the Pacers(2nd best team in the bubble 6-2 record), beat the best team in the NBA during the regular season(Bucks), beat Boston who were considered the favorite after beating the Raptors.

And the whole LeBron vs MJ, it's getting annoying. They are different players like many people in this forum have previously stated, just appreciate both in what they have brought to the NBA.
