Stanek is the definition of insanity. Are they just gonna keep rolling with him until he gets it together?

Yesterday wasn't that bad, Isan Diaz booted what should have been an inning ending double play. At worst the second out of the inning. Blackmons single, he jammed him but it found an open spot. He pitched relatively good, just some bad luck.

The box score card can be misleading from time to time.

In other words, you're waiting for the Marlins to do something correctly...

ESPN closer chart is comical..they make a point to say “last updated on August 19th-today” yet they have oberg as the closer for the ROS and even have a write up on him and how well he has done..lolol

I probably wouldn’t worry about Estevez right now. Colorado is heading on the road, and if Davis continues to be dominant on the road, he may get back in good graces before their next homestand. Or pick up Estevez...just don’t expect too much for a while.

The Bears WR is moonlighting as the Cards’ closer? The city of Chicago won’t like that much.

Closer dart throw question: Any chance A.J. Minter gets called back up and takes over the 9th inning? Melancon has hardly been consistent, the closer situation has been in constant flux, and Minter seems to have righted the ship in the minors. Would the Braves dare consider that move for the stretch run?

I think Greene will get first crack now that he is getting comfortable

Estaves had not been being used in high leverage at all recently until last night after they used Shaw, Diaz and Davis.

Not that Diaz has been any better, but Diaz is the guy that is been directly behind Davis in usage last 2 times.

He was awful as the closer for ATL, i would be surprised if they throw him back in

In re: Rockies

I agree that Diaz seems like the guy to add since he seems to be trusted more in the setup role recently. But Closer Monkey’s dart throw is Estevez, which is also reasonable.

Debating between Esteves and Diaz, coin toss I guess

Estaves did not pitch last night because he pitched the previous night and got 6 outs. Both pitchers stats are similar but Estaves was on the il for a bit. Close your eyes and throw a dart. I am praying that Estaves is the choice since i got him, but for sure Davis days in that role is over.

I'm going to say no chance whatsoever.  AJ is at best 5th on the depth chart.  It would take multiple blow ups from multiple guys and him to get called up and dominate in non-save situations for a couple weeks.  Job is Melancon's to lose right now.  If he stumbles it will go back to Greene or Jackson depending on who has been pitching best most recently.

The only times he's been bad is when they've brought him in to close out the game in non-save situations. In his two (?) traditional save situations, he's been nails
