RULES

TEAMS must MAINTAIN at least 5 ACTIVE PLAYERS from your CHOSEN team
For example, if you are Cleveland, you must roster a minimum of 5 actual Cavaliers out of your 15 players
DL players count toward the minimum

15 MAN ROSTER
5 slots for the starters (PG, SG, C, PF, SF)
5 slots for the subs (G, G, C, F, F)
5 bench slots for any inactive players
ALL SLOTS MUST BE FILLED WITH ACTIVE PLAYERS
5 IR

DRAFT
You can keep/protect up to 15 players from the previous season
Keepers will be slotted in the later rounds
For example, if you want to keep 10 of your 15 players, those 10 take up the 10 later rounds in the draft leaving you to draft prospects or free agents in the first 5 rounds

To make things a little more of a challenge, we've instituted a new Free Agent Rule in the Baseball and hockey leagues.

It's about expiring contracts and the opportunity for other teams to have a crack at any players that otherwise would be hoarded forever.

Also would make the trade deadline a bit more entertaining.

FREE AGENT RULE
NBA contracts are mirrored so when an actual NBA player's contract ends with is team, that player will go back into the waiver pool available to be drafted the next season.

For example:
If Kawhi Leonard, after his deal expires, leaves Toronto to test free agency, his fantasy team (San Antonio in this case) loses him to the FA pool to be picked up in our October draft by whoever chooses to (even San Antonio again if they have the pick).

IF THE FA RE-SIGNS WITH HIS ACTUAL NBA TEAM, THE FANTASY TEAM THAT OWNS HIM KEEPS HIM.

Q- How does this rule apply if a player is traded from his NBA team rather than his contract simply expiring?
A- Getting traded in the NBA doesn't affect the fantasy player you own.

Q- Does a player who leaves via FA or traded, who is not part of your selected team, have to be dumped as well?
A- Only if he leaves via free agency, which is in the summer when our fantasy league is dormant, for example, you wouldn't select Kawhi Leonard as a keeper in that case before our October draft.

Specifically San Antonio owns Leonard, if he leaves his NBA team TOR, does SA have to put him back to the FA pool?
A- Only if he leaves via free agency (see above)

Q- Does the rule only apply to players from your designated team (in this case - all SA players)?
A- If any SA players you own, become FAs after their season, they return to the pool.

Now if any of your FA players re-sign with their NBA teams, you keep them.
Example, if Leonard is FA and is re-signed in Toronto, you as SA keep him.
If Rudy Gay is FA and re-signs in SA, SA keep him.
If Leonard or Gay sign elsewhere, you can draft them back to your SA if you have a high enough pick.

The draft therefore becomes an opportunity to not only add recently drafted NBA prospects but also a free agent signing.
