Mike Conley 2019-2020 Outlook

Is he a natural fit on the team? Probably not. But I will take tonight's game as a flash. I mean he shot 45% tonight. 22/4/4 and a couple of stocks. If that's not a step in the right direction, I don't know what is folks. And for those bemoaning how they could have lost to the Blazers, need I remind you that the Blazers just came in and swept the floor with the Lakers in a game that they 100% had no business in losing? Come on, now.

What are talking about? Where are the couple of stocks?

You're right. I just looked at it again, and confused some of Buddy Hield's stocks for his. Still though, this is the right direction to be heading. I'm not going to doubt this game.

Look at his impact on Rudy. The two of them both acknowledged at the beginning of the year that he needed to adjust, given that Rudy plays much differently compared to Gasol. Rudy was an early candidate for biggest draft bust. Same theme happened tonight. He is not a good fit with this team.

When he plays, and they lose, it's because of the schedule. When hes out, and the team skyrockets, it's because of the schedule. Why even bother playing the games when outcomes can be perfectly explained by the schedule.

I think he still has something left in the tank but he is not a good fit on this team. And he hasn't been since day 1. Cant blame the schedule for that.

No one is saying that he has been playing well or that he has been a good fit on the team. But pointing to their surge while he was injured without acknowledging the softness of the schedule is pretty reductive.

The Jazz are 17-12 when he plays. Chemistry doesn't happen overnight. If the guy hadn't gotten injured they'd be much farther along with that process, but stuff happens. They have two choices: keep trying to figure things out or pull the plug. Pulling the plug after 29 games seems shortsighted to me.

What was not to like about Conley’s performance last night? First start since the injury played 30 min w/ no set backs, scored 20pts on 45% FG(same as Kawhi) w 4 3pt. Solid line. He’s ramping it up. I’d add him to watch list in 12-team and under but would grab in 14 or 16 team. Grizz 4-3 since Conley came back and he hasn’t passed 20 min before tonight how can you blame a bench player for losses lol

FWIW had the highest +/- amongst the starters last night. Not sure why Conley gets most of the blame for losses. Sure he hasn't been playing well throughout the season but it's not all on him. Their bench is pretty bad even with the addition of Clarkson who's more of an iso player empty stats player that isnt a good defender ever since his Laker days. Ed Davis has fallen off the map, Mudiay who has prob been their best bench player is injured.

It's beyond shooting poorly, it's chemistry issues. I guess we all asked for too much too soon from the guy, when you play one way all your career and than asked too play a different way it can be jarring. I think we all are rooting for him to pick it up, but who knows at this point.

Okay. I'm on this thread now as I scooped him over the waiver wire and dropped Ariza.

Fantasy is such garbage sometimes... I held on to this guy since it was announced that hes back from his injury. I held on more than enough games to give him a chance to get it going. As soon as I dropped he goes off... F U Conley

I feel ya bro. happens all the time you give a guy 40+ games with nothing to indicate why you should keep holding. then the moment you drop him

Just like Caris Levert.  Going off two games in a row now since I drop him. But ironically I pick up Conley instead. What can I say? LOL

The patience it you had to have if you've held onto this guy after stinking it up or being hurt for half the freaking season.  I really just figured he wouldn't become comfortable enough in this system (this season) to get back to being himself.  Congrats if you seriously held him this entire time, with all the other injuries that have caused IL spots and bench spots to be taken up.  And I guess congrats if you got him off waivers.

Signed,

A regretful non-believer

If you check his 12 years stats, he can keep this up.

Mad at myself for changing my waiver bid one last time which cost me not getting him. Typical me being so indecisive smh. Oh well, still got him on 1 of my rosters, hope he continues to ball out.

Also I wonder if him playing well caused Bojan to get 5 assists tonight, the most hes gotten all season im assuming. That would totally be a welcome sight.
