Not necessarily.

How was he suppose to know he would get blacklisted for a non issue?

Well, for one, he didn’t do what his employer told him to do. Insubordination isn’t a good employment strategy.

This whole thing seems extremely odd and random to me. He's been out of the league for so long and all of a sudden announces he's working out halfway through the 2019 season? Am I missing something?

Let's go then. Where would you rank him?

Just a reminder of his numbers.

https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/K/KaepCo00.htm

He's not currently better than:

Darnold?

Trubisky?

Fitzpatrick/Rosen?

Finley/Dalton?

Mayfield?

Rudolph?

Tannehill?

Brandon Allen?

Dwayne Haskins/Case Keenum?

Kyle Allen?

Daniel Jones?

Josh Allen?

Jameis Winston?

I would take those in bold, over Kaepernick.

You're certainly entitled to your opinion.  As I am, mine.  CK would be a more than serviceable backup.  But top 20, he is not.

Workout with 24 NFL teams today at 4:00pm, so I guess there's a legitimate chance he might impact fantasy this year.

"From the outset, Mr. Kaepernick requested a legitimate process and from the outset the NFL league office has not provided one," Meiselas and Nalley said. "Most recently, the NFL has demanded that as a precondition to the workout, Mr. Kaepernick sign an unusual liability waiver that addresses employment-related issues and rejected the standard liability waiver from physical injury proposed by Mr. Kaepernick's representatives.

My question is... when has the league ever conducted this type of orchestrated workout for any free agent?  Why is this even happening?  Are routine gathering for aging free agents the normal legitimate process?

I doubt this is going to turn out as much of anything at least for this season for Kap. Maybe next season he might get a few offers to come to camp as a tryout.
