Patterson is a great return specialist and the Bears have used him at the goal-line before to vulture td's but he doesn't have the build to sustain being used too often.

Build? He's basically the same size as Latavius Murray and AP.

Welcome aboard.  Since you're new here, the David Montgomery outlook thread is the Rotoworld equivalent of a senior citizen water aerobics class.  No one really gets excited.  Montgomery is mentioned

Arrow still down........

I think a team would have to be really deep at RB to trade them to the Bears. Between injuries and covid-19, there are just too many unknowns to make such a move imo. Browns would be sol if they traded Hunt and then Chubb got hurt or sick.

Teams that are going through a complete rebuild may also be willing to deal though like the Jags but it’s still a risky move.

Jets should trade LeVeon, Gase hates him anyway.

Freeman had a combined 1000 yards, 6 tds and caught 60 balls last year on a fairly off year..why  would you avoid that situation especially with Foles slinging it ? Sign me up all day, especially right not getting freeman for nothing

On a team with the worst QB play in the league, a bad offensive line, minimal redzone opportunities, and Cohen taking all the receiving work? Yeah...I'll let guys like you scoop him up. I'm completely okay with that. I'd rather have Nyheim Hines than Freeman tbh in a PPR format.

You're right, I checked and now he is.  He really must have bulked up over the past year or 2 because he used to be about 195 when he was a wr.  I still question whether he can ever be the main rb, though.

People are straight sleeping on Hines this year. Rivers targets his RBs more than any other QB in the league over the last 5 seasons. He targeted them the most last year with 32% target market share for the RBs and a 38% completion percentage. Both were the highest in the league by a considerable margin. Taylor and Mack are being argued over, but Hines is the only piece I want due to low cost, and high upside for a RB4/RB5.

I'm not sure if any team has ever had 3 top 30 RBs in a season, but I think the Colts may be primed for it.

You never should have drafted this guy to begin with, BEFORE the injury.

That's on you.

Before the injury, Montgomery was a decent sleeper in .5 PPR leagues if you loaded up on other positions early and waited to draft a rb2.  He was usually being drafted in the 5th round in leagues that I'm in.

Absolutely.    He was a GREAT value with rb1 upside to spare.   Claiming victory because of a fluke camp injury is a troll-icious as it gets.

Devonta Freeman has a decent chance to be added and he may actually be the better back.  As much as I like Cohen, I doubt he gets a real shot at majority carries in Monty's absence.  Anything is possible under Nagy, so maybe Patterson is the main beneficiary.  Though, an attractive flyer off the Chicago bench for me is Artavis Pierce, undrated rookie, passes the eye test.

Since it says that Montgomery will only be out 2-4 weeks, I don't think that Devonta Freeman will be signed.  I think they'll either sign a lesser back or trade for someone like Royce Freeman or Gus Edwards.

Gus the Bus has looked like he could handle the load as a starter if called upon for the past couple of seasons but the Ravens drafted the rookie Dobbins and they still have Justice Hill from last year in addition to Ingram so now Gus is expendable.

I just wanted to pounce on the opportunity to say Gus the Bus ! it’s been a minute lol . But definitely he’s a solid no nonsense runner , almost never nets you negative yards. Decent rusher, sub-par pass catcher. Freeman as well, is a solid yet unspectacular running back.
