Ok ALL. Time for some TAKES.

note, I'm not an expert on ADP yet, so bare with me if I say something incredibly stupid.

WORST PICKS SO FAR:

Bryce Harper 2nd round, 9th overall: Seems way too early, a lot of other much stronger players went after him (Baez, Walker, JD, Max, Devers, Clev). Way too early IMO.

Chris Sale 3rd Round pick 6. I'm not sure if hes going to be going here when things stabilize, but this seems a bit early for a guy who struggled with injuries and has a lot of question marks. Bit of a run on SP around this time, so I 'get it', but wouldn't like Sale at this price.

Jose Altuve 3rd round pick 9, maybe its my bias, but not liking Altuve this year. Although 2b is weak.

Kris Bryant 4th round, pick 2. Reallllly dislike this pick, sorry! Kris Bryant is basically Machado who went a round later. He won't steal, doesn't get a ton of RBI's, his HR's are like 30ish, runs are great, and his average is usually pretty good, but I'm not a fan.

Keston Hiura round 5, pick 1 - Way too early for this IMO.

Round 7 pick 1 - Victor Robles - Is he really going here? Not a fan

Round 12 pick 2 - Yasiel Puig, doesn't even have a team yet, might end up in Japan.

Round 9 pick 7 - Aquino, big dud incoming, this is too early.

BEST PICKS SO FAR:

Arenando at 16. He keeps falling for some reason, but this is a first rounder.

Walker Buehler + Max Scherzer at the end of the second round. That's pretty nice. I think that's about right, but I like them there.

Mondessi/Villar round 4 picks 10/11 - Mondessi in particular could be a first rounder if we knew he was 100% not going to get injured. Villar can carry a team in the hardest to get stat - SB's. Nice value for both here.

Round 8 pick 4-  Josh Hader, first RP off the board and its round 8. Might be a decent year to pick up some elite RP and maybe even focus on grabbing 4-5 elite RP and waiting on SP all the way to the end in h2h... IDK yet, we shall see where their adp's stabilize, but the best reliever in the game had in round 8, I'm cool with this

Round 8 SP : Noah, Kluber, Paxton : A lot of nice upside here with these 3. Noah will be on a ton of my teams this year, I can't quit him. I feel like this could be a great year for Paxton as he finished so strong.

Round 9 pick 2, Josh Donaldson : His ADP is likely going up up up.

Round 12 pick 9- Kimbrel.

Round 15 pick 11 - Matt Boyd - lmao, great pick. Why is he going this late? Absurd.

Round 15 pick 12 - Jake Odorizzi - same comment, why is he going this late? Absurd.

Nice to know I'm not on Cryp's Worst picks list and have a few on the best in Buehler/Mondesi 😉

I know its a mock, so RP have to go, but I am probably the biggest advocate on this forum of not drafting RP. At all. Ever. WAY too volatile. Top RP turn into duds too easily, and jobs constantly switch.

That being said, the best pick of the draft I think we can all agree is Arenado at 16. Unreal how he dropped that low.

I love top pitchers, but you do not need them. In some leagues, you could do fine NOT drafting ANY starters. Yes, I brought out the caps. I’m not only talking about H2H leagues where you can carry only relievers. I’m talking 10 or 12-team roto leagues where you can stream starters. Maybe you own one starter and stream five spots. Maybe you own two guys and stream four spots. Maybe you drink seven cups of coffee and stream all day.

I play mainly roto 5x5 leagues.. and many (most) of them have QS as a cat. So sure, if you want a dud in QS/W then go for it. Streaming starters requires nerdly amounts of time. And even then, you're lucky to grab a 6IP 3ER 4K outing from them on a consistent basis. I prefer (and of course, this is just me) to have a rock solid 2-3 base of SP, and maybe another 2-3 that I can rely on for 3/5 QS per Start. Sure, I'll still stream, but I don't want to have to RELY on it. I prefer to use my time on Closermonkey and get notices sent right to my phone when a new closer steps into a role. That is when I laugh at the guys that draft the Edwin Diaz's and the Josh Hader's when they lose their investment in their 10rd pick on a closer when I'm now getting the same production out of a guy that went undrafted.

my .02 on pitching.

PS- you lost me at "Razzball".

I've seen and used both strategies. I am of the belief that you need quality SP in roto, UNLESS you are ungodly on the waiver wire with streaming. Back in my younger days when I could focus on baseball and streaming 24/7 I was able to win a number of leagues without drafting any SP and loading up on RP... now however, I have too many days per week or month where I can't spend a night looking a head and streaming. It's just not possible, especially if you play in a lot of leagues.

In short, I think both strategies work, it's just the all RP, no SP, streaming in roto strategy takes way too much effort. Rather just not play fantasy baseball at that point.

Yup.. I think it's way easier, and more attainable with playing the RP wire card then streaming SP. You need that SP base in Roto.

This is so ..... So you know for certain the guy who drafted Diaz & Hader doesn’t spend time like you getting updates and pouring through closer reports. These owners who drafted those guys sit back and do nothing while some ... All your draft picks hit gold. It’s time for me to check out.

Skimming the results, don’t see anything too out of the ordinary.  When the closer run hit, it hit hard.

I think guys like Bieber, Flaherty and others in that 2nd SP tier fell a little further than they typically do.

Only one hitter in the first round (Bregman) doesnt steal bases

while I’m not a fan of using an early pick on a closer this year, there’s use in it.  Not everyone can churn and burn spots for closers.  There’s also a cost that varies depending on league.  Faab, Roster spots, waiver position, time.  You’ll also inevitably add some gas can who lights your ratios on fire and Never closes again.

Like when you’re adding and rostering the Chris Martins and Anthony basses of the world, other people are adding potential breakout SP and hitters.

Another thing about the just add them off the wire strategy is everyone else will be after closers too.  Most people just won’t be able to cherry pick the next guy up.  All the while you’re falling further and further behind in saves (though you Dont have to worry about falling behind in H2H).

Can't believe I didn't make the best picks with Sano at 130. Amazing the lack of love this premium power bat gets. Guy is gonna be healthy and be on one of the best offensive teams in baseball.

I like that pick a lot too. I just skimmed the draftings and tried to pick out as many as I saw, didn't analyze every single pick.

Oh I'm just discussing. I enjoyed reading your breakdown. This is my first mock this year. I've made some errors, but it's kind of amazing the depth of options. Love how its shaping up.
