I cant trust mcvay. I'm starting Henderson this week, but I'm not excited about it

Totally get it.  In fact I felt the same way before this week.  But I'm buying into the timeshare stability esp now that Akers is healthy and getting nothing.  Looks to be an MO with how they treated Henderson last year.

Still don't feel comfortable but at some point you have to respect the floor as the games with 10 or so points accumulate.

I'm surprised by how eager many are to sell here. The LA Rams are 2nd in rush attempts in the league. They are neck-and-neck with the Browns with only a 3 carry separation. This is a backfield yo

Because the GM said he wants to use multiple backs? Jesus, you not watch very much ball. About every team but five use multiple RBs. I think it’s smart for real life teams to do if they want to protec

Problem is they don't target the running backs very much, and Brown has been averaging 2.7 targets to Henderson's 1.9 targets.

I think he's a lock for 12+ touches and 60+ yards most weeks, but without the targets you need a TD or end up with under 10 fantasy points.

This. I’m fine with the Brown role it is what is is at this point they’re about winning games not fantasy. I don’t understand how he doesn’t get two screens a game even or is that too simplistic for McVay and he’d rather do crazy end-arounds with Robert Woods or some other concoction that gains no yards. A few of those drawn up dump offs would make a world of difference.

Hmmm, surprised to see no posts here. Has anyone heard anything on this injury beyond what was reported during the game?

Nope. He's just a boring player in a not so high flying offense. The value here comes from the sustaining drives and him commanding a lot of the snap share, which neither are happening.

At this point, he's a matchup dependent RB2, and doesn't have enough going for him to overcome bad matchups, especially ones that flummox Goff.

Wed, Nov 4

Rams coach Sean McVay said Darrell Henderson (thigh, quad) "will be fine" for Week 10 against Seattle.

Advice: "Darrell is good. His quad was bothering him. If we were at practice this week, it’d probably be later on in the week until he’s able to go. Don’t expect it to linger into Seattle." PFF's No. 1 graded running back, Henderson lasted just 18 snaps last week and didn't return in the second half. With the Rams' Week 9 bye to rest up, Henderson shouldn't miss any time.

Semi-interesting note on him I saw today (ESPN insider):

"Henderson has proved to be one of the more valuable fantasy draft selections of 2020 during an impressive first half, so it may surprise you to know that he actually underachieved in the TD department. Henderson found the end zone four times, but his 6.3 OTD (seventh-highest in the NFL prior to the Rams' Week 9 bye) suggests he should have had even more. Henderson ranked eighth in carries inside the opponent's 5-yard line (7). The second-year back entered the bye ranked 15th in scrimmage yards (despite minimal passing-game usage) and 21st in fantasy points, so potential TD regression to the mean only adds to his second-half appeal. Consider Los Angeles' lead back to be a borderline RB2."

I don't know how much carry volume will be there against Seattle since the Rams will likely be forced to throw the ball. I expect it to be high-scoring, so Henderson probably has an above-average shot at a TD and hopefully they involve him more in the passing game ... only 4 targets over the past 5 weeks and none over the past 2 weeks (though obviously an injury).

My only concern is they tend to default to Brown more when Goff has to throw a lot due to pass protection.

This is the biggest concern. If he could only get some more passing downs. He reminds me of Harris on the pats. Very game flow dependent.  Even though this will most likely be high scoring it’s tough to predict how much he’s going to be involved especially if Seattle jumps to a quick 2 score lead. Then what happens? Brown goes in to pass protect for the whole second half. It’s a very likely scenario.

Before the Dolphins game (which got away from them and he got hurt), he had 14-15 carries in 3 straight games. If we can rely on that number of carries with a few catches sprinkled in each week, he can easily be counted on as an RB2.

Akers or malcolm brown?

I still think Henderson will be fine, but given the matchup this week I would say Malcom Brown is the guy you would want if Henderson didn't play. Against Seattle they will be facing a negative gamescript most of the game...no way they trust Akers more to pass block than Brown who is their pass pro/receiving specialist.
