Prospect Draft tonight! I need some advice

Recommended Posts

I am a bit behind on prospect research. I put together some names to list here and hopefully get opinions.

Luis Matos

Orelvis Martinez

Luis Campusano

Josh Jung

Hunter Bishop

Brennen Davis

Aaron Bracho

JJ Bleday

I like Martinez and Brennan Davis but the others are intriguing as well.

@brockpapersizer

@ChicksDigTheOPS

@garlando

@FouLLine

@HOOTIE

@ST. STEVEN

And any other prospect guys I missed.

THANKS!!

I am with you on your preferences. I might slide Bleday in ahead of Davis but it is close (for fantasy value). I am a big fan of Orelvis, he is a guy that could easily be in that top 20 range next year at this time. Bracho is right there after with possible helium and 4 cat juice.

Brennan Davis was just taken. I’m up and all the other guys I listed are available.
I’m looking for the highest upside.

Any one of Martinez, Matos or Bracho would be real solid imo

Thanks pal! I think I’m going with Martinez but may try to slide back into the draft (only 4 picks left) to snag Matos or maybe Bracho

Don't know how many you can keep, so go with Brancho, Davis, Martinez

so honored to be tagged for this, even as a mere Youtube couch scout 😚

you're looking for upside? In that case I might scratch out Jung off the bat. Campusano can maybe have a Willson Contreras type impact - but I doubt that's the upside you're seeking. Bracho can hit but his upside might be capped by his body and defensive opportunities (capped plate appearances?)

Bishops true upside is pretty gargantuan, but my gut feeling is he will end up more of a hypothetical stud, than a year-in-and-year-out stud.
Bleday's upside is something like poor man's Chase Utley in the outfield. Short-stroked lefty with good feel to hit and above-average power. I think his biggest appeal is safety though, not ceiling - though his ceiling isn't anything to scoff at.

Orelvis can swing it. There aren't wheels, but there is power and wood.

But honestly, when it really comes down to it, I like Luis Matos here. He reminds me of a young McCutchen in some clips, maybe with a splash of Jeter Downs. I'd guess most published rankings have him at the bottom of this list, but in terms of pure true upside, he might be at the very top.

That said, I think I'd go with Orelvis.

Sorry I saw this late.  Curious as to who you went with?
