for it to continue, there needs to be strict testing and clearance. otherwise i don't see it happening any time soon.

You know what's the funniest thing about people comparing Corona to the flu?

Because the Flu + Corona means that hospitals are gonna struggle. They will be overload and those with money will reap the rewards first.

Depends where you are. Not all healthcare systems are like the US.

Woj just said on sports center that initial talks are season will resume but very shortened

Maybe just end the regular season now, and do single elimination playoffs!  BTW Jazz already eliminated due to bioweapon threat.

I play in a league with close friends, thats pretty high stakes, and we locked waiver transactions until theres an announcement on when play will resume.

Yeah, that's actually what I did as the commish for all my leagues.  I locked roster changes as well though (not that moving around your players matters much when there are no games).  It simply isn't fair to grab drop injured players off the IL (e.g. Isaac or Brog) to take direct advantage of the virus affecting the league (though I was easily able to do so myself).

probably no games for 2-3 weeks at the minimum and then the rest of the season will be played without fans.   Ronnie2k will be asked to simulate the crowd using ps4 graphics

Ah, this is what I'm hoping will happen - quarantine everyone for at least 2-4 weeks, then test all rostered players and anyone coming to the arenas.  Once cleared, have fan-less games (I dunno about Ronnie2k, haha), and possibly shorten the season.  The NBA can at least make money off the televised revenue to compensate for ticket sales and other losses.  It'd also be more fair to higher seeded NBA teams (e.g. Bucks, Raptors, Lakers, Nuggets) who have worked hard to win games.

Would also possibly allow us to play fantasy this season and avoid issues with money leagues and/or owners with high seeding (though that's a bit selfish on my end since I'm winning quite a few leagues).  Of course, there's also the side effect of giving time to guys like Simmons and KAT to potentially return this season (again, selfish on my end since I've got them, lol).

Definitely wouldn't be surprised if they canceled the entire season though, or at least postponed it for a prolonged amount of time.

Big shout out to people like @alexstr whose tin foil hats blind them from understanding reality.

Ignorant clowns like this guy are going to be one of the primary reasons why it will be especially difficult to contain this outbreak.

lol, I definitely get chastising people who have said stupid stuff and done stupid stuff (after his microphone-touching incident/attending shootaround sick, Gobert's been mocked more times than I can count on social media), but really, this is bigger than both fantasy and I-told-you-so's.

We just need to move on, take this seriously, and make precautions to protect yourself and those around you.  If someone doesn't understand the gravity of the situation, they're gonna learn real quickly; worry more about keeping yourself safe and healthy than heaping hot embers on the internet troll.

Just looking through all posts now, sorry not trying to nitpick your posts but this is again very bad reasoning, not to mention your mortality rate of the coronavirus is wrong. It's not 1%.

Yes, most of the deaths are from people who are elders or have underlying health problems, but we need to work together to reduce the spread to those people. It's not just about you, me, or someone else who will likely recover from it. Your older family members, friends, coworkers, etc who you interact with is at a much higher risk if you get it.

This pretty much, I'm horrified of getting it because I don't wanna get it then give it to my parents when they're already 65+ with my mom having heart problems. I can't imagine how I would feel if for instance I got it and then my parents got it and needs to be hospitalized in serious condition. I also work at a casino with lots of people coming still with no notice of closing off yet. Never been so stressed in my life.

Gobert is a basketball player. He made a bad joke and humorously (very dark humor) it bit him in the a**. He doesn't deserve to be publicly shamed for this.

My guess is he secretly is scared about it but he's "tough" and so he has to show how "tough" he is. Now he really gets to prove it, unfortunately.

The problem is there are people in charge who do not understand, seem to be too good to be told anything and have an upcoming election campaign's success tied to the economy and more specifically jobs and the standard of living in general. If there's an Italian style shutdown that wrecks the economy here for the spring, summer and maybe fall...

Thing is, sticking one's head in the sand now will lead to far more pain later. This disease needs an aggressive, unified stand. 3.2% of all infected will die; the rate is much higher for those with health issues that they may or may not know about. That's your grandparents, maybe your parents, maybe your partner, children, friend, who knows. Someone you care about may die this year from a preventable disease.

Heard you only feel the symptoms 2 weeks after you have the virus... maybe he just wasn't feeling sick yet.. but it was a bad joke that did bit him in the a** good...

Hasnt responded in this thread at all since news broke out. Hmmm I wonder how dumb he must feel thinking he was super smart and being 100% completely wrong and in denial.

People who were going after Gobert because he is French or because he got the virus ate either racist or stupid.  Most likely both.

I just honestly believe the people who run the yahoo and espn fantasy sites are not going to wait around for weeks maybe even months to see if we are going to resume play. Its much easier to say "Due to the NBA season being suspended, the 2019-2020 NBA Fantasy Basketball Season is over. Thank you for playing." and the 1st place winner after this week is over (monday at midnight pacific time) will be awarded 1st place trophy. Its just too much of a headache to wait for the unknown. And then what happens if the NBA says ok no more regular season games we are just going straight to playoffs. How will that work for fantasy teams with players who arent on a playoff team?

I see your point, but that would be crazy to award league winners and $ prematurely.  Not sure how they could justify that either, especially in roto where most folks now in the top 3 because they currently have a huge lead in games played. Fairest scenario would be to refund everyone their $.

Maybe for roto its different but for head to head it should be simple. Best thing to do is contact yahoo and see what their game plan is but I fully expect leagues that dont have a commissioner like yahoo pro leagues this will be the outcome no matter how unhappy people get because you cant please everyone.
