Ok, but I agree with some others, even if true, "will start" before the Union votes on it sounds deliberately misleading and undermines his credibility.

Could it have been Phil Hughes just ******** with him like he has already said on the tweet?

Weird he cites players if they wouldn’t know as nothing has even been proposed to the players yet.

Here's Plouffe explaining the situation.  Says it hasn't been proposed to the MLBPA, which would explain why some players are denying it.  His sources must front office folks.

So why is he saying players were sources?

Seems it’d be extremely easy to just redact names and screenshot texts to prove he had multiple sources.

Basically says the MLB hasn’t sent over anything yet and they don’t know if there will be a season.

They just opened up most states this week.

If everything goes to hell in a handbasket over the next week and a half there's no real point in getting into things like Union votes and labor negotiations.

If they feel comfortable with public health questions and safety issues these other items will come into focus.

Here's Hughes suggesting there IS a proposal and he thinks the players will accept it.

Doesn't mean it will work out, but doesn't seem far fetched the two sides would be formulating a plan right now.

Guys, I'm thinking that Phil Hughes was either A.) Trolling or B.) Loaded yesterday during his tweet spree because it was contradictory and made no damn sense.

The head of the MLBPA posted yesterday they haven’t received one proposal. Hughes posted on Plouffes post he was joking then retweeted Keith Law saying there is no proposal...

Well, if any of this is to be believed, it sounds like MLB is formulating something to send to the union.

I’d assume they have been formulating something to send to the union since the league was postponed. That doesn’t mean literally one thing. They haven’t worked out compensation yet. What proposal are they going to send before that? Players will wipe their a** with anything before they figure out how they will be paid and how much. The league being back in a month is a stupidly tight timeline when you need MULTIPLE things to go through a complete union vote.

Just the fact that the only two people reporting this is Trevor Plouffe and Phil Hughes tells me all I need to know. Especially when one is also retweeting Keith Law saying the report is false and posting on Plouffes Twitter that he was joking...

The fact that the 2020 season may ride on the journalistic credibility of Trevor Plouffe is not encouraging. Even if he believes he has reliable sources, he has no track record of breaking news for us to believe them. People always think they have better information than everybody else and one low-level contact could easily misinterpret something as being inevitable when it's merely in planning or discussion.

Well that's certainly not the case.

Plouffe may have just pulled something out of thin air, but that doesn't really impact things like them watching the results of states reopening or negotiating a labor contract for this year.  It just affects how we view his credibility or lack thereof.

“...the idea that seems to have the most current momentum is opening on a set date without fans in as many home parks as possible, then expanding to other states as they open later. ...let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Someone with MLB told me something interesting last week. There can be no plan, he said, until the league figures out how to proceed from the standpoints of health and safety. What are the testing protocols? The protocols for social distancing? For cleaning? For travel?

Once all that is figured out — and not before – the league can back into what the season will look like. For now, officials are modeling a variety of scenarios, as they should. But they don’t have firm answers yet.”

Also according to the Athletic, Cleveland officials did in fact mention the July 1st date to the team. They also indicated that was not official from MLB or MLBPA, but just to have everyone in organization ready and prepared. Maybe not have some show up like Kung Fu Panda.

So they are discussing bringing baseball back in June/July, with coronavirus death rates per day actually increasing in the USA (https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/?utm_campaign=homeAdvegas1?) still and not decreasing!? Sounds really caring for human beings over sports lol

Mr.Positive, you need to be more positive.

Here is Ken Rosenthal's response to  Mr Plouffe's post:

Quote

According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, "no plan is close to firm" as far as when the 2020 baseball season will begin and what it will look like.

Former major leaguer Trevor Plouffe tweeted Monday, citing multiple sources, that he had heard spring training would resume on June 10 and that games would get underway on July 1, with all teams playing at their home ballparks. Rosenthal confirms that at least one team -- the Indians -- has instructed its players to use those dates as potential targets, but for now they are just that: targets. "There is no plan, can be no plan, until Major League Baseball gains a clearer perspective on which states are containing COVID-19 well enough for games to be played safely in their most stripped-down form, without fans," writes Rosenthal.

It appears from the article that the Indians also communicated the June 10th date for reporting via video conference as a "line in the sand."

🤷‍♂️

Another day, another potential trickle of communication.  Early days still.  One way or another, I suspect over the next three weeks we'll know if there is a 2020 season or not.

Passan chimes in saying teams are telling players essentially to “Get ready to get ready for Spring Training” without any dates firmed up. He says he expects mlb to approach the players with a proposal in the next week or so. used Plouffe’s dates as the earliest he thought baseball could resume. Starts at 1:20 of the video.

Well, if a team is communicating that date to their players, then they're must be some legs to the Plouffe thing.

Read NHL will require players to self quarantine 14 days prior to training camps would imagine MLB would do the same.

I get the optimism but until a proposal has even been sent to players it’s all smoke with no fire.
